Bottom Line

The mid-range Primecomfort California is an adult-only, apartment-style hotel with a minimalist, cheerful design. The 93 rooms are spacious and bright, each with a well-equipped kitchenette, sitting area, flat-screen TV, and a furnished balcony, but no air-conditioning and Wi-Fi comes at a cost. Due to its lack of on-site leisure and dining options -- save a pool and a snack bar -- clientele is generally young adult friends and couples looking for a convenient spot for exploring Playa de las Americas. The surrounding area is teeming with restaurants and bars, and the beach is a 15-minute walk away. Sunprime Coral Suites And Spa is an alternative adult-only option that offers quite a few more features, including a spa, restaurant, and air-conditioning.

Scene

Simple apartment-style hotel with contemporary and cheerful spaces

This adult-only hotel has a simple, minimalist aesthetic consisting of cheerful colors, airy spaces, and modern furniture. Public spaces are few, but the lobby has several couches, books for borrow, and an adjacent snack bar with IKEA-like wood furniture. The contemporary rooms are even brighter thanks to yellow accent walls, lime-green curtains, and multi-hued striped throw pillows. The outdoor deck even continues the design with a bright-blue-tiled pool and yellow loungers. Thanks to its 16-and-over policy, this property largely draws couples and groups of friends who are looking for a peaceful spot to relax yet that's within easy reach of buzzing nightlife.

Location

Conveniently located within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, and shops

Primecomfort California has an ideal location for those who like to explore on foot and don't need to be situated along the water. The area surrounding the hotel is saturated with restaurants and bars, making it easy to take advantage of the buzzing nightlife here. Worth noting: Many previous guests have mentioned that The Chieftan (a three-minute walk away) is a great place to grab breakfast. There are a couple of beaches within walking distance too: Playa de Las Vistas is just a 15-minute walk from the hotel, while Playa de las Americas is a 22-minute walk away. Also, for guests who are looking to make use of their kitchenettes, there are a couple of supermarkets just a one-minute walk from the property. Tenerife South Airport is a 14-minute drive.

Rooms

Spacious, colorful, and contemporary, but lacking AC

These apartment-style rooms are spacious and have a contemporary and vivid aesthetic. Bright-yellow accent walls behind the beds give the rooms a joyful feel, as do the lime-green curtains and striped throw pillows in multiple hues. These cheery aspects are toned down by rich hardwood floors, white walls, white wooden furniture, black woven dining chairs, and grayish-purple lounge chairs. In addition to sitting areas, all rooms have modern kitchenettes that are well-equipped with mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. All have furnished balconies, but the views vary.Flat-screen TVs and ceiling fans are provided but rooms don't have air-conditioning, which is a large con for many guests. Wi-Fi and use of the safes will come at a cost. Comfortably sized bathrooms have navy-blue-tile floors, white-tile walls, and beige marble sinks. They're outfitted with walk-in showers, but no free bath products or hairdryers, but the latter can be rented at reception.

Features

Outdoor pool with plenty of sunbeds and a well-reviewed snack bar

Entertainment-wise, there isn't all that much to do on-site. The only leisure opportunity is the well-sized pool area with plenty of free sunbeds and umbrellas available. Dining is limited to an on-site snack bar that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The snack bar has reasonably priced light bites and drinks, which have received positive reviews from previous guests. Additionally, either a full English or light breakfast is available for a fee daily.
