Laguna Park 2 is a two-pearl, all-inclusive resort with 376 apartment-style units with kitchens and living rooms. Its low price tag attracts younger guests, including some families and plenty of party kids, and it's definitely not the kind of place one would go for a peaceful getaway. It also isn't directly on the beach. All units have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and kettles, but there's no AC. Features include a restaurant, though reviews are mixed, a large pool, and a disco bar with specialty cocktails. There's also a game room with an arcade, but its main draw is that it's the only place on-site with free Wi-Fi. Travelers looking for a step up and a quieter atmosphere can consider Hotel-Apartamentos Andorra in Playa de las Americas.
Scene
Lower-end apartment hotel popular with young families and groups of partiers
The property's orangey-red and yellow buildings are set on a hillside, arranged in lettered "calles" (lanes), all the way down toward the base of the resort. The entrance is at the pinnacle, where there's a small lobby with a seating area and a car rental desk, but most guests hang out in the game room right below it. There's an elevator to access the hotel's buffet restaurant on a lower level, with the pool and some of the leisure facilities at the very bottom. The hotel attracts primarily British guests on a budget, including young families. Overall, the clientele is younger than many of the other area properties and they're definitely here to party, despite the fact that the property isn't exactly the most happening of places and is removed from the action closer to the shore.
Location
Hillside location above Costa Adeje, a 15-minute walk to the beach at Torviscas
Laguna Park II is located in the hills above Costa Adeje, about a five-minute drive or 10-minute walk downhill into the edge of the city center, where travelers will find lots of restaurants and shopping opportunities, including the island's much celebrated outlet of the popular Spanish fashion brand Mango. The Aqualand water park is also 10 minutes away on foot, while the nearest beach -- Playa Torviscas -- can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot or seven minutes by car. Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos take about 10 minutes to reach by car, while it's roughly a 20- to 30-minute drive to the airport (or about an hour by bus, with one transfer).
Rooms
Simple apartment-style units with comfy beds, balconies, and kitchens, but no AC
Laguna Park 2 offers simple, apartment-style lodging with kitchens and living rooms, but none have air-conditioning. Most are one-bedroom units, though there are 58 Studio Apartments. All units have two incredibly comfortable twin beds, and the one-bedrooms have sofa beds with mattress-style cushions in the living rooms. Flat-screen TVs are standard, and all units have large balconies with basic tables and chairs, and overlook the city. Those on higher floors have spectacular sea views. Interiors are on the bland side, with white, IKEA-style furniture in the living rooms and not much in terms of wall art or interesting decor to look at. But there are narrow, arched doors topped with windows, and the granite bars with stools separating kitchens from living rooms is a homey-enough touch. Kitchens have mini-fridges, microwaves, ovens, kettles, four-burner ranges, toasters, and basic cookware. Bathrooms are standard, with shower/tub combos, and toiletries are not provided. Note that apartments can be stuffy on humid days, though the tile floors keep things a little cooler. However, there are ceiling fans above the beds in bedrooms, and stand-up fans can be rented from the front desk.
Features
All inclusive plans, game room, and outdoor pool, but iffy Wi-Fi and mediocre food
Facilities at Laguna Park 2 are extensive for a budget hotel. There's a game room with a pool table, a bunch of arcade games, foosball, wack-a-mole, and two internet terminals -- and it's the only place on-site with Wi-Fi. While the service is free, it's unpredictable and can slow down when there are multiple users. The room also has a small lending library and a foam sofa that covers three quarters of the space. Glass doors lead to the hotel bar, where there's live entertainment in the evenings as well as a variety of all-inclusive drinks available, including a special cocktail of the day. The hotel offers all-inclusive and half-board packages, with drinks and snacks included in rates. Meals are served buffet-style at the hotel's Rotunda restaurant. The spread consists of salads, breads, meats, cheeses, and paella -- but overall the food isn't very good or of high quality. There are also light snacks served at El Chorro Snack Bar by the pool during the day, though only some are included in all-inclusive rates. The pool area is at the bottom of the resort, with a bar and pool tables. There's also a toddler-size playground and a little garden area (mostly dirt with trees) with a few benches, plus mini-golf and tennis courts. The pool itself is spacious and gets plenty of sunlight, and there's a covered, shaded area. Activities for kids are offered throughout the day, as is evening entertainment such as animal and bird shows and live music. On-site parking is free, but limited, and there's a baggage room for free guest use. There's also a privately owned 24-hour supermarket near the hotel's front door where guests can by water, liquor, and a few microwave dishes, plus freshly baked donuts. The hotel is fully accessible for travelers with limited mobility.
