Bottom Line

A glossy high-rise, the 365-room H10 Gran Tinerfe ticks all the boxes for a quiet, easy beachside vacation. The adults-only policy attracts a lot of vacationing couples looking for a sunny getaway without splashing families or party animals. Large pools, direct access to a sandy beach, two restaurants, and a spa add to the appeal. Guest rooms are contemporary, with wood-laminate floors, espresso-colored furniture, and soft gray-and-white bedding. The result is tasteful, if a little generic. The location, within walking distance of several beaches, restaurants, and shops, makes it an excellent pick for those who want to explore the area.

Scene

A glossy beachside high-rise, popular with middle-aged couples

Housed in a white high-rise reminiscent of Miami's South Beach, this attractive hotel fronts a pool area and has direct beach access. But unlike South Beach, the vibe here is subdued, despite live entertainment at the club, and it mostly draws middle-aged couples on vacation. And the adults-only policy means no kids tearing down the hallways or doing cannonballs in the pool. The main deck features a rectangular pool and lots of loungers and umbrellas, but despite being a few feet from the beach, the ocean views are blocked by the Privilege Lounge. But grounds are surrounded with lots of palm trees and tropical plants. Decor is contemporary throughout, with espresso-colored furniture and chrome details that stand out against the white walls and marble floors. The lobby is bright, spacious, and decidedly adult, with black-and-white Warhol-esque silkscreens of old movie stars.

Location

On sandy El Bobo beach and within walking distance of lots of restaurants, bars, and shops

On the border between Costa Adeje and Playa Las Américas, H10 Gran Tinerfe is located in a boisterous area full of restaurants, shops, and bars. The hotel is right on El Bobo, a pleasant stretch of sand with a couple dozen straw umbrellas, loungers, and a drinks hut. There are a couple of other beaches within walking distance, and most other beaches in the area can be reached by bus. (A bus stop can be found a few blocks from the property.) The airport is a 30-minute drive away, and it's also accessible by bus in about an hour.

Rooms

Contemporary and chic, with up-to-date amenities

The lobby's color palette and contemporary furnishings continue in the guest room: Light wood laminate floors, white bed linens, dove-gray bed runners, and espresso-colored tables and chairs give a chic, if slightly generic atmosphere. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, electric kettles, and furnished balconies. (Sliding wooden shutters add flair to the latter.) Wi-Fi is available throughout, but there's a fee to use the in-room safe. Bathrooms are spotless and appealing in all units, with cream-colored tiles, shower/tub combos, and a wide array of hotel-brand toiletries. The hotel offers several room types -- including Double, Superior, Junior Suites, and Suites -- and two service tiers: regular and Privilege. In general, room differences relate to space and little extras like bathrobes and slippers. Privilege guests get a number of in-room perks, including iPod docks and pillow menus.

Features

Three large pools, a spa, a fitness center, two restaurants, and a tennis court

The hotel features three pools, including two deep-blue free-form ones surrounded by loungers, palm trees, and dotted with a few features like waterfalls and footbridges. A third small, rectangular pool sits closer to the beach. The on-site spa offers treatments, saunas, steam baths, and salon services in a serene space with a reception that overlooks the pool. The adjacent fitness center is small and features only a handful of machines; those who prefer to exercise outside can book the tennis court or engage in round of ping-pong. The buffet and the brasserie have attractive outdoor seating under broad umbrellas or a shady lattice-topped terrace; rates typically include either breakfast or breakfast and dinner. And the poolside snack bar serves pizza slices as well as a few other small bites, but note that some guests have complained of repetitive menus. The hotel also features three bars, two meeting rooms for up to 170 guests, a small casino, and a little boutique. Aside from a couple of in-room perks, Privilege guests get a few great on-site extras, including access to the rooftop terrace and the beachside lounge, private check-in, and free parking.
