Bottom Line

The 4Dreams Hotel is a budget property with a fantastic location in the pedestrian center of Puerto de la Cruz, a short walk from restaurants, bars, and attractions. However, this property is dated throughout and past guests have complained of bed bugs, noise, maintenance issues, and odors. The 67 rooms have flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, and some have balconies. There's a lovely roof terrace with a small (but cold) pool and excellent views over Puerto. Buffet breakfast is available for a small fee and Wi-Fi is free, but patchy in rooms. It could be worth comparing rates with Hotel Marte, where rooms are dated but reliably clean and there's a full restaurant and bar.

Scene

Worn out and dated property for tourists on a budget

The 4Dreams Hotel is located on a typically quiet street in the pedestrian center of Puerto de La Cruz. This is an older property and it's in need of renovations throughout. It has green-and-white-striped awnings and overgrown potted plants at the entrance. The interior also feels tired. Low tiled ceilings and mauve carpet decorate a dreary hallway that leads to a pair of green armchairs. There's a bar in the adjacent foyer, but its hours are unpredictable according to guests. Tourist couples and solo travelers seeking a central location and low rates tend to stay here. Those who aren't out exploring can be found lounging around the pool on the rooftop terrace, which offers great views over Puerto de La Cruz.

Location

Center of Puerto de La Cruz, a short walk from sights and cafes

This property has an excellent central location in Puerto de La Cruz. Restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops line the neighboring streets. The location is in the pedestrian zone, so noise is not usually an issue -- except when big concerts and events are held in the famed Plaza del Charco, the central plaza, a three minutes' walk away. The hotel is also close to popular attractions such as the Museo Arqueologico (five-minute walk) and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (three-minute walk). The Risco Bello Aquatic Gardens are just under 20 minutes away on foot. Sitio Litre Garden, offering walkways, fountains, and tropical plants, is a 12-minute walk from the hotel. Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia, a 17th-century church, is just a two-minute walk from the hotel. Tenerife South Airport is a 60- to 90-minute drive, while Tenerife North Airport is 25 minutes' drive (40 minutes by public transportation) from the hotel. Guests must walk to the property from the hotel's parking area, about five minutes away.

Rooms

Outdated rooms with flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges

Rooms at the 4Dreams Hotel have a worn-out look and can feel dark and dreary. There are simple white-painted wooden bed frames and mauve bedspreads topped with velour throw pillows. Beds get mixed reviews for comfort. Single, Double, Triple, and Quadruple Rooms are available, but some double beds are actually two twin beds pushed together. Each room has a narrow white plastic desk and folding chair and a simple nightstand. Some rooms have balconies and those on higher floors can offer great views of the sea and mountains. Amenities include flat-screen TVs (with mostly German and two English-speaking channels) and mini-fridges. Kettles for tea and coffee are available on request along with hairdryers. There is no air-conditioning, only fans, and rooms can get hot. Bathrooms are small, done in drab gray tile, and have shower/tub combos and toiletries. Wi-Fi is free, but service can be patchy. Guests have complained of bedbugs, noise from other rooms and hallways, maintenance issues in bathrooms, and odors such as mold and smoke.

Features

Great location, rooftop terrace and pool, breakfast buffet

The best feature of the 4Dreams Hotel is its central location. On-site features are quite limited. There's a lovely rooftop terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas that offers views over the city. A small year-round pool is also on the terrace, but the water is often cold. The hotel offers daily breakfast buffet service for a small fee. Hot and cold items are served and can include fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese, cereals, juice, pastries, and yogurt. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and common areas are air-conditioned.
