While the drive up to the Peaks in Mountain Village is scenic, the resort oddly stands out in the small town of Telluride. This hotel is one of the largest in both Mountain Village and Telluride, offering a long list of entertainment and amenities that guests might expect from a property of this size. Many guests are so pleased with the variety of entertainment at the Peaks that they only venture out to ski. The size and amenities of this resort appeal to families, meaning the Peaks is not one of the quieter hotel options in Telluride. Pleasant common spaces include the spacious lobby with its leather couches; the two restaurants; and the coffee shop.

The Peaks Resort and Spa is located in Mountain Village, perched 800 feet above downtown Telluride near the ski slopes. A gondola serves as the main transportation between the towns. While Mountain Village gives visitors easier access to the slopes and offers ski-in/ski-out access without the use of a gondola, it caters only to tourists and doesn't even have a grocery store. The town is built like a European skiing village with a handful of different plazas packed with restaurants, bars, and other entertainment.The Peaks Resort and Spa sits at the far end of Mountain Village, on Mountain Village Boulevard, and is practically the last hotel in town. Since it sits at a higher elevation than Telluride and not in a canyon, the views are dramatic and endless, especially from the outside decks of the resort.- 20-minute drive from Telluride Regional Airport

Rooms at the Peaks have been nicely updated over the years with upgrades to the bathrooms, fixtures, and decor. They have a contemporary mountain feel, featuring dark wood accents, leather headboards, queen pull-out sofas, plenty of space, and in some, balconies to enjoy the views. Guests can choose to pay for an extended view or a regular view. For groups and families seeking even more space, the Peaks offers two types of suites -- the Alpineglow Suites with extended square footage and a larger sitting area, or the Grande Suites with a separate dining area.All rooms come with some standard features, including iPod docks, mini-fridges, and plush bathrobes. Guest rooms and suites are all pet-friendly, and part of the resort fee goes to the in-room Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are big with granite countertops, separate soaking tubs, stall showers, and large vanities.- Vista Rooms are the standard option.

The Peaks was built to be a destination not only for skiing, but for relaxing, and with a 42,000 square foot spa and fitness center, guests can really unwind. The spa includes 32 treatment rooms, an oxygen inhalation room, and a salon. The fitness center features cardio and weight machines, and separate Pilates and yoga studios.Although there are other indoor/outdoor pools in town, the Peak’s tops all the others with its amazing views and waterslide. For guests looking to swim laps, a separate lap pool is also on-site. Summer guests can take advantage of the resort’s on-site golf course and tennis courts, while skiers use the ski valet and gear rental shop.- 42,000 square foot spa and fitness center with a separate Pilates and yoga studios

As guests might expect from the largest property in Telluride, the Peaks has several dining options. Altezza is a seasonal restaurant that serves a breakfast buffet with hot and cold items. Guests can also choose to enjoy an a la carte breakfast instead. Bean Cafe is the Peak's own coffee bar, offering espresso drinks along with light fare like pastries and homemade baked goods. Altezza at the Peaks offers brunch, lunch, and dinner options. This is the hotel's main restaurant and features local, seasonal fare. While the menu is a bit pricey, the food is excellent.
