Scene

Time-share property with residential-style rooms

The common spaces in this property are handsomely paneled in dark wood and outfitted with fixtures fashioned in a vintage lodge aesthetic. The rooms are contained in low-lying, three-story buildings covered in unpainted wood siding, which provides a comely counterpoint to the pine trees surrounding the parking lots and the rest of the property. The hotel feels removed from the rest of Incline Village, which is in fact a short walk away. Guests -- mainly families -- tend to spend most of their time off-property enjoying Lake Tahoe.

Location

Adjacent to North Lake Tahoe and two miles from Diamond Peak skiing area

The property is situated a five-to-10-minute walk from North Lake Tahoe and a 15-minute walk (or three-minute drive) from the commercial offerings of Incline Village. Quiet and woodsy, the hotel sits among trees about a 45-minute drive from Reno-Tahoe airport. The slopes at nearby Diamond Peak ski resort are accessible via a free shuttle, which stops a few steps from the hotel.

Rooms

Choice of residential-style units includes lakefront apartments

The large, residential-style units all have full kitchens, a gas fireplace, and two bedrooms; some have a built-in hot tub in the window seat of the master bedroom. The bedrooms, which have slightly bulky furniture, are outfitted in a western mountain aesthetic, with deep red walls, the occasional Navajo-style throw blanket, and light-wood furniture. Air-conditioning units are situated in the living rooms, so bedroom doors must stay open to receive cool air. Apart from this minor inconvenience, rooms are very comfortable and perfectly maintained.

Features

Summertime water sports, hot tub, private beach, and comfortable lounge areas

Guests at the Hyatt Residence Club Lake Tahoe, High Sierra Lodge have access to all of the hotel amenities at the next-door Hyatt Lake Tahoe. The property maintains a private beach with chaise lounges, as well as a pier where boats, kayaks, paddle boards, and jet skis are all available for rent. A few restaurants are on-site, including hearty American fare at the shorefront Lone Eagle Grille, light snacks at Sierra Cafe, and casual pub fare at Cutthroat's Saloon. There is a living room with pool table, TV, and a variety of DVDs for cozying by the fire. A small outdoor pool is surrounded by flagstone tiles and flanked by a hot tub.
