Pullman Sydney Hyde Park

Tucked between two other buildings on a busy street, Pullman Sydney Hyde Park is a tall building with over 20 windowed stories. Inside, the lobby is modern with sparkling chandelier lighting and funky seating areas with purple couches and colorful, striped round rugs. Hallways have whimsical carpeting with an orange and purple bubble design. The restaurant on-site, Windows on the Park, is a posh dining spot with panoramic windows facing the green lawns and leafy trees of Hyde Park, while the bar at the hotel, Bar Rendezvous, is a dimly lit lounge-y space with couches where guests can relax and enjoy a cocktail. Views of the city and park are excellent from the rooftop pool area where poolside dining is offered. Both leisure and business travelers are attracted to the hotel; business facilities are particularly good, with an executive lounge that offers free breakfast and evening drinks.

This hotel is in the Central Business District next to Hyde Park, the city’s oldest park. There are plenty of dining options within walking distance, including Chinatown’s restaurants, which are a 10-minute walk away as well as the Italian restaurants on Stanley Street, just a five-minute walk away. There's also a train station within a five-minute walk. Both the Sydney Opera House and the nightlife of Kings Cross can be reached within a five-minute taxi ride, and the airport can be reached in 45 minutes on public transportation, or in less than 15 minutes by car.

Rooms at Pullman Sydney Hyde Park are modern with gray carpeting and curtains and pops of color including bright, orange chairs and matching headboards. All rooms have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles, but Wi-Fi is an added fee. Rooms have marble bathrooms with big, pentagon-shaped shower/tub combos and C.O. Bigelow toiletries; some bathrooms have separate soaking tubs and showers. The large windows in the rooms offer views of the East Village or Hyde Park, but when curtains are left open, the rooms can get quite warm. Suites are available with balconies overlooking the park, but standard rooms do not have balconies.

The hotel has an outdoor rooftop pool with city views and lounge chairs. Just off the pool area there's an indoor whirlpool and a fitness center with weight and cardio machines as well as free weights. There's an upscale restaurant on-site, a dimly lit lounge-y bar, and a coffee shop. For guests staying on executive floors, there's an executive lounge with iPads and computers where guests can enjoy free breakfast and evening refreshments. Seven meeting spaces are available for private events, and parking is available for a fee. Guests often complain about the extra fees here that can add up, including Wi-Fi and breakfast.
