Bottom Line

The 158-room Welcome Hotel
Stockholm is a mid-range suburban property that draws families, groups, and business travelers (it has several meeting and
conference rooms). Although located on the outskirts of Stockholm -- and its reasonable rates reflect that --  the hotel is close to
a train station and the E18 highway. Rooms are small and simple, decorated in a clean

well as lunch and dinner. There is an outdoor pool open in the summer months, as well as

Scene

Family-friendly hotel in the Stockholm suburbs

The Welcome Hotel Stockholm has a
bit of a misleading name, as it’s located off
the E18 highway in suburban Jarfalla, close to a
train station. But with its suburban location comes lower rates. The pale-brick building, surrounded by a
park and spacious parking lot, has a bit of a nondescript chain look. A large wood reception desk greets guests in the lobby, which has a seating
area to one side and opens into the spacious Bistro Welcome on the other. Gray walls and chairs are clustered around small
round tables and light wood floors that are partially covered by a colorful graphic
rug. The seating area gives off a waiting room vibe, although lots of natural
light from several large windows brightens up the space. The hotel is usually full of families with kids, as well as larger groups, and the atmosphere is friendly.

Location

Located in the outskirts of Stockholm, about 12 miles away from the city center, close to a train station

The Welcome Hotel Stockholm is
located on the outskirts of Stockholm in Jarfalla, a
suburb about 12 miles from the city center and adjacent to the E18. The hotel is surrounded by
parks and gardens in a relatively quiet area, although there is noise from the
nearby highway. There are good rail connections to central Stockholm from the Barkarby station, an eight-minute walk from the hotel. The trip to
Stockholm’s Central Station takes about 30 minutes, with trains running every
15 minutes during the week. Arlanda Airport is a 25-minute drive away.

Rooms

Small and simple, with clean and cozy design; larger Family Rooms available

Rooms at the Welcome Hotel
Stockholm come in a variety of sizes, from small Singles and Doubles to Suites
and Family Rooms accommodating up to six people. The affordable rates and
large rooms attract groups, sports teams, and families. The spaces are simple and minimalist, although cozy with blond wood floors and
furniture, and lots of natural light from large windows framed in floral-patterned curtains. The spaces have a distinctly Scandinavian
feel, with a clean design and soft color palette. Rooms are small but spaces are used efficiently. The smaller Single and Double Rooms can be a particularly tight
squeeze, with small beds and tiny bathrooms. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs,
telephones, work desks, and free Wi-Fi. Water boilers and coffee and tea are
provided in the larger rooms. The rooms are not air-conditioned, and some receive noise from the nearby highway. The Suites have separate bedrooms
and living room areas, and receive lots of natural light from several
windows. The living room has a comfortable corner filled with a couch, armchairs, a work
desk area. Both rooms have flat-screen TVs. The colorfully tiled
bathroom has a separate whirlpool tub and shower.

Features

Bistro, several conference rooms, and an outdoor pool

The Bistro Welcome on the
ground floor is a high-ceilinged space of neutral grays and blues
enlivened by bold red accents. It's large, and its gray carpets and chairs give it a bit of a corporate cafeteria vibe, but the big windows, abundance of natural light,
blond wood tables, and fireplace make it feel cozy. The
bistro serves a simple menu of Swedish classics and comfort dishes for lunch
and dinner, emphasizing local produce, as well as a breakfast buffet in
the mornings. A small children’s menu is also available. The hotel has four conference
rooms, the biggest of which accommodates up to 50 people, and five group rooms.
Bigger conference rooms for up to 250 people are available at the nearby Barkarby Gard. The hotel has a small fitness
center, sauna, and outdoor pool open in the summer, as well as a playroom for kids. There
are jogging tracks near the hotel. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and free parking is
available.
