Bottom Line

The 245-room Hilton Strasbourg is a four-pearl hotel that caters to business travelers, especially those visiting the European Parliament or the local convention center, which are located nearby. Situated outside the city center, this isn't a convenient place for tourists that want to explore Strasbourg on foot, but sights can be reached by public transportation. The overall look of the property is formal and polished, with sleek contemporary decor that's a bit bland and chain-like, though rooms are spacious and pleasant. The on-site restaurant serves Alsatian cuisine, plus there's a bar and lounge, though they're pricey, as is breakfast. The fitness room is small, and there are meeting rooms and a business center on-site, but Wi-Fi is only free in common areas and incurs an extra charge in-room. It’s worth comparing rates with the nearby four-pearl Villa d'Est, which offers free in-room Wi-Fi and breakfast at a better price.

Oyster Hotel Review

Hilton Strasbourg

Scene

Contemporary chain hotel catering to business travelers

The Hilton Strasbourg occupies an unassuming, large steel and glass building. The main lobby is huge with gleaming marble floors and sparse furniture that includes a round settee surrounded by white, square-shaped armchairs in front of a marble front desk. The overall effect is a touch chilly and business-like, but it does leave ample space for travelers to lounge or make use of the free Wi-Fi. Given its location, most guests are business travelers; and many members of the European Parliament and their staff stay here to be close to their offices during the one week every month they're in session.

Location

Close to the European Parliament, but outside of the city center

The Hilton Strasbourg is located on a large boulevard in a quiet area outside the city center. The Strasbourg Convention Center is a three-minute walk away, and the European Parliament can be reached in a 15-minute walk. The offices of the Council of Europe are a six-minute drive from here as well. The European Court of Human Rights is seven minutes away by car. The area is well connected to public transportation via Tram B, which stops about a five-minute walk from the hotel; it gives access to the city center in 15 minutes. But unfortunately, there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Strasbourg airport is a 30-minute drive away.

Rooms

Spacious, pleasant rooms with modern comforts like flat-screen TVs, minibars, and tea/coffee facilities

The rooms at the Hilton Strasbourg are spacious with a 300-square-foot layout. Decor is done in a simple, classic style with lots of wood paneling and wooden furniture with granite countertops that are a bit dated, but the overall effect is clean and pleasant. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, electronic safes, and irons/ironing boards, but in-room Wi-Fi incurs an extra fee. Bathrooms are a good size and have shower/tub combos, bidets, hairdryers, and Peter Thomas Roth toiletries. Travelers booking in the summer should note the air-conditioning system is in need of an upgrade. And traffic noise can be a problem in street-facing rooms due to poorly insulated windows.

Features

Restaurant, bar, small fitness room with sauna, and several meeting rooms

The hotel has a small business center, which is open 24-hours, and 15 meeting rooms available with space for up to 600 people. The Carvi restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but prices here are a bit steep. And drinks at the adjacent H! Bar & Lounge are also on the expensive side. Wi-Fi is free in public areas only, and costs an extra fee in rooms. Executive Room/Suite guests have access to the Executive Lounge on the ground floor where they can benefit from free breakfast, snacks and drinks. But all guests have free access to a small fitness center and sauna.
