Bottom Line

The 414-room Radisson Blu
Waterfront is an upscale, business-friendly hotel that's connected to the landmark
Congress Center in central Stockholm. While the immediate area isn't
picturesque, the location is super convenient for the central train station while
also putting the city center within easy reach. While most rooms are on the small side, they are smart and clean, and some have good views of Lake Malaren, Riddarfjarden, or city hall. Breakfast and
dining options are ample, but there's no spa facilities or pool.
Overall, the Radisson Blu Waterfront is a straightforward business hotel. Travelers seeking a little more character might want to check out the nearby family-run Freys
Hotel.

Scene

Sleek business-friendly chain hotel attached to striking conference center

The Radisson Blu
Waterfront is part of the striking Stockholm Waterfront complex dominated by
the vast shimmering Congress Center. Designed by White Arkitekter and
encased in miles of stainless steel bars, this impressive piece of contemporary
architecture -- dubbed the "Crown of Lake Malaren" -- was opened in

  1. The adjoining Radisson hotel is a 12-story tower that, while lacking the
visual punch of its neighbor, impresses upon entry, A clean-lined, spacious
lobby with arty, angular, neon ceiling lighting sets the scene, with a contemporary
fireplace set in a wall that divides the lobby and ground-floor dining area. An open-shelving partition wall displays modern art and quirky objects. The
vibe is functional and sleek, with a busy yet relaxing vibe. Clientele
inevitably leans toward business guests and conference attendees, although it
also attracts a fair share of vacationing couples likely drawn by its convenient
    location.

Location

Waterfront setting adjacent to Stockholm's Central Station

The hotel is
located close to the waterfront in a commercially developed area opposite
Kungsholmen island and adjacent to Stockholm's Central Station. Escalators next
to the adjoining conference center connect to both the airport shuttle train
(Arlanda express) and the T-bana subway trains. Centrally located in the Stockholm district of Norrmalm puts most of Stockholm's city center attractions within
walking distance, including Sweden's largest shopping area complete with
underground mall. The city's charming medieval Galma Stand (old town) -- on the
island of Stadsholmen -- is a brisk 15-minute walk, or a five-minute cab
ride.

Rooms

Smart, sleek decor, and free Wi-Fi -- some rooms have water views

The 414
rooms at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel have clean, contemporary styling, with light-wood furnishings, carpeted floors, and modern art. All rooms come
with free high-speed Wi-Fi, minibars, and flat-screen TVs, while Business Rooms add Nespresso machines, extra TV channels, robes and slippers, and scales. Bathroom
are clean and modern, with high-end This Works products. All rooms are same size
and layout except Suites, though Standard rooms face an office building and
have no views, while Business and Superior rooms all face the water. Suites are
on top floor, with more space but the same amenities as Business Rooms. Rooms,
however, are generally on the small side -- and sometimes stuffy -- while
announcements from the train station can be heard in some of the lower-level
rooms.
