Scene

Pastoral hills setting next to a river with a lake, trees, and ample sports facilities

Situated in rolling hills next to the Atibainha River, the Hotel Estancia
Atibainha Resort & Convention offers a scenic pastoral setting with landscaped grounds, a lake, and a forest.  There's also a working farm with pastures, fields, an orchard, and an organic vegetable garden. Guests can interact with cows and horses or take a
horse-drawn cart tour around the property. The resort offers distinctive
architecture with a medieval-style castle in the main property and charming
white chalet-style guest cottages with red shingled roofs. Guests congregate
around the numerous swimming pools and in the
small lobby with a fireplace, leather sofas, and Brazilian art and decor. The
resort attracts nature lovers, families, and business travelers attending conferences at the property's sizable conference center.

Location

Scenic hillside location on the Atibainha River, a 75-minute drive from Sao Paulo

The Estancia Atibainha Resort is located a five-minute
drive off the SP-036 highway in the green, rolling hills adjacent to the
Atibainha River. The river is dammed near the resort, creating a reservoir lake
with opportunities for fishing, water sports, and swimming. The resort is about
an eight-minute drive west of Nazare Paulista, a relatively undeveloped town with a few attractions, notably the
Church of Our Lady of Nazareth, built in 1676. The center of Sao Paulo is a
75-minute drive away and Sao Paulo International Airport is a one-hour drive south.

Rooms

Simple chalets with minibars and satellite TVs

The Estancia has 113 chalet-style cottages that are simple, clean, and bright, with white walls and a largely brown and tan color
palette. Rooms come with satellite TVs, minibars,  safes, air-conditioning, large mirrors, and patios with hammocks. Some cottages have sofa
beds and some have older tube TVs rather than
updated flat-screens. Bathrooms are simple but practical, with stall showers and wall-mounted hairdryers. Past guests have complained of musty
smells in rooms as well as mold, dirt, broken appliances, and general wear and tear.

Features

Several swimming pools, soccer and tennis courts, and farm animals

The presence of a working farm with a barn, corrals,
horses, and cows lends a distinctive and charming feel to the sprawling resort. Guests can
pet the horses, see a cow get milked in the barn, or take a horse-drawn cart
ride around the property. Other activities include paddling around the lake in swan-shaped boats, hiking on nature trails in the nearby forest, and playing tennis, soccer, volleyball, or basketball on one of the outdoor fields or courts. The resort does a great job of catering to kids, with a playground, an indoor playroom, a nursery, and a game room with video games, foosball, table tennis, and billiards. Options for swimming abound and include an outdoor pool surrounded by lounge chairs and shaded tables and a separate pool with a waterslide. Guests can swim
laps in the indoor fitness pool and there's also an indoor pool just for kids. The health club has a fitness center, dry and
wet saunas, and a hot tub; massage services are available. The hotel restaurant features a copious buffet and an a la carte menu offering Feijoada Brazilian stew, barbecue,
sushi, seafood, Italian fare, and homemade desserts. The restaurant's covered
terrace has scenic views of the hills and surrounding area and the bar
features piano music. Also on-site are a movie theater, free parking, and a
large convention center. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and is free.
