Scene
Stylish beach hotel for hip, young travelers and families
Postcard Inn On The Beach is a two-story motel-style property that’s been completely renovated into a hip, surfer-themed hotel, directly on the beach. The exterior is cheerful, with blue flower pots and blue paint, and the grounds are well-landscaped. There are a number of unique indoor and outdoor spaces where guests can hang out together, including an outdoor fire pit. Inside, the lobby is decked out with wall-mounted skateboards, colorful couches, and lanterns, and there are communal-style dining tables. Fun accents, like arcade-style games and a photo booth, make for a light atmosphere. Guests lounge under umbrellas at the large pool, and take in the sunset from a colorful, second-floor sun deck.
Location
On a gorgeous white-sand beach, walking distance to restaurants
This surfer-chic property maintains a breezy, summer-party vibe thanks to its location directly on the beach in the lovely town of St. Pete Beach. The hotel is set on busy Gulf Boulevard, within walking distance of a number of dining option -- including casual delis and seafood restaurants -- should the on-site options grow tiresome. Tampa International Airport is about 27 miles north of the hotel, and St. Petersburg -- which has great museums and restaurants -- is about a 20-minute drive away.
Rooms
Funky and vibrant decor with unique artwork and furnishings
Each room at Postcard Inn is decorated in a surfer-chic style with throwback surf boards and vibrant colors -- no two rooms are exactly alike. Rooms have unique artwork -- including local surf photography -- and vintage lighting fixtures, plus basics like flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are clean, but quite small and plain compared to room decor, with shower/tub combos and wicker bins for toiletries to make up for a lack of counter space.
Features
Beachside tiki bar, swimming pool, on-site water sport rentals
The hotel has a popular on-site restaurant, plus an outdoor cafe and bar with beach views. The restaurant, PCI Boathouse Kitchen & Bar, offers barbecue, burgers, and seafood dishes for lunch and dinner in a western-themed, all-wood space. The PCI Beach Bar is an open, weathered-wood structure, serving breakfast and lunch (mainly burgers and sandwiches), while the adjoining bar serves cold drinks with Gulf of Mexico views. Poolside cabanas and beach bungalows are available for rent, and on-site Captain Mike’s organizes boat rides, waterskiing, snorkeling excursions, and more. There’s also a small gym with lots of natural light, and an outdoor ping-pong table. The meeting rooms are plainly decorated but spacious enough for large group events.
