Bottom Line

Hideaway at Royalton Saint Lucia is an adult-only, four-and-a-half-pearl property located in a secluded cove outside Rodney Bay. The resort’s 166 rooms are sleek and contemporary, featuring glamorous open-concept bathrooms, private balconies, and cozy sitting areas. Guests have access to all the features at the massive Royalton Saint Lucia, which includes eight restaurants, a swanky spa, and several pools, along with a private, adult-only infinity pool, a la carte restaurant, and stretch of beach. On the downside, the property is quite a drive from the island’s top attractions and guests keen on an adult-only experience may not appreciate that much of the property is shared with an all-ages resort. Ladera Resort offers an alternative for guests looking for an exclusively adult-only resort closer to St. Lucia’s famous Pitons.

Scene

Sophisticated adult-only retreat within the Royalton Saint Lucia resort

Hideaway is the true definition of a resort-within-a-resort, set on the same grounds as the Royalton Saint Lucia and with most facilities shared between the two. The resorts share an identical aesthetic as well, an easy elegance defined by clean, modern lines and polished, white decor. Thoughtful features like reservation-free a la carte restaurants and cool bracelet key cards lend added luxury and convenience to the typical all-inclusive experience -- although some guests report that service can be a little inconsistent. The vibe is distinctly upmarket yet easy-going and unstuffy.

Arriving guests are whisked beyond the lofty main lobby of the Royalton Saint Lucia, instead checking in at the more intimate Hideaway lobby, which is set within the designated Hideaway area of the resort. With its own pool, beach, and restaurant, Hideaway is a great option for grown-ups looking for quiet escapes within the buzzing Royalton resort; however, it won’t appeal to those seeking a strictly adult-only experience since taking advantage of the full Royalton facilities, including the spa and eight restaurants, means running into little ones in the all-ages areas of the property.

Location

In a peaceful cove on the northern tip of the island, close to Rodney Bay

Hideaway is set in the affluent Cap Estate area on the western side of St. Lucia’s northern coast. The resort is located across the street from St. Lucia’s only 18-hole golf course, but otherwise there’s not much within walking distance. The restaurants, bars, and shops of Rodney Bay can be reached in about 10 minutes by car, and it’s also a 10-minute drive to Pigeon Island National Park.

Most of St. Lucia’s most popular attractions, including the Pitons and cocoa plantations, are found a 90-minute drive south near Soufriere. Hewanorra International Airport is about a 90-minute drive away as well, and smaller George F.L. Charles Airport can be reached in 25 minutes.

Rooms

Rooms feature stylish, modern decor and open-concept bathrooms with deep soaking tubs.

Like the other guest rooms at the Royalton Saint Lucia, rooms at Hideaway have soothing color palettes and contemporary, minimalist decor. Luxury Junior Suites are the standard room category, offering compact sitting areas with work desks and sofa beds. Royalton Signature DreamBeds are fitted with soft white linens. Minibars are stocked with water, soda, and beer, plus coffeemakers are also standard. Excellent tech features include smart TVs, USB sockets, Bluetooth audio stations, and free Wi-Fi. Beach bags and a selection of aromatherapy scents are among the other in-room perks.

All rooms have private balconies or terraces, with Luxury Junior Suite Swim Outs including semi-private pools. Views are pleasant, but noise from amphitheater performances can be an issue in rooms overlooking the grounds; and some ocean-view rooms only have partial views of the water.

The open-concept bathrooms are every bit as opulent as the guest rooms. They feature twin vessel sinks and separate toilet vestibules. Royalton-branded bath products and magnifying mirrors are provided. All bathrooms have soaking tubs as well as big, walk-in showers with pairs of rainfall showerheads. But some might find the open-concept design a bit too exposed. One-Bedroom Suites with whirlpools and separate living areas are also available, as well as Diamond Club rooms, which offer extras like butler service and access to a private lounge.

Features

Access to the extensive facilities of the Royalton Saint Lucia, plus a picturesque pool and pretty beach

Guests at the Hideaway have access to all the extensive features at Royalton Saint Lucia, the main resort that's all-ages. This includes a dazzling spa with a hydrotherapy circuit and a well-equipped fitness center, live nightly entertainment hosted in an open-air amphitheater, and an attractive rooftop event space. The all-inclusive package covers meals and drinks at eight top-notch themed restaurants, none of which require advanced reservations. There are also bars located on the upper and lower levels of the main hotel lobby, and a third found in the Hideaway lobby.

While Hideaway guests are free to use the Royalton’s two pools, they also have their own private, outdoor pool, which drops off in a dramatic infinity edge about halfway along its length. A couple of black loungers are submerged in the water, and the pool also includes some fountain features and a swim-up bar. The bar has a small dry sitting area with a handsome wooden roof, plus there’s a separate whirlpool. Comfy beige loungers and beach umbrellas are lined along one side of the pool, leaving the view over the resort on the opposite side beautifully unobstructed.

Guests also have access to a lovely white sand cove beach -- technically it’s the same stretch of sand used by guests at the Royalton, but Hideaway guests have their own section. There are a few neat rows of cushioned loungers arranged on the sands, as well as a bar and several chic canopied cabanas set back on a wooden deck.

Hideaway’s restaurant, Dorado, is a simple space with a sandy color scheme and a pleasant terrace overlooking the beach. The restaurant specializes in seafood, but also serves a la carte breakfast. Room service is covered in the all-inclusive package, with Hideaway guests offered an expanded menu compared to that of the Royalton. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and there’s free parking on-site.
