Bottom Line

Situated in a cove of the Camachee Harbor Marina, about two miles north of downtown St. Augustine, the mid-range Inn at Camachee Harbor consists of 19 individually owned time-shares. Decor varies widely, but all units have mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and DVD players; some units have whirlpool tubs, private balconies, and marina views. Suites have kitchenettes and separate sleeping areas. While there is no street life in the immediate area, there are three restaurants within walking distance, and the ambience is peaceful. The hotel has a small pool, and a pleasant boardwalk that snakes through a lush garden.

Scene

Modest two-story stucco buildings, terra-cotta roofs, and a wooden boardwalk that winds through a lush garden

The lobby, made mostly of pre-fab materials like wood laminate, industrial carpeting, and faux-distressed wallpaper, has little ambience. Nature drawings are framed with wood frames and hung on the walls. The property’s main appeal is that it fronts a working marina, and offers lovely views of the boats. There is a small, outdoor wooden patio in the back of the main building that looks onto the water, and a few hundred feet of moss-covered boardwalk snakes through a lush garden of local plants and trees set in back of the hotel.

Location

On the Camachee Harbor Marina, about two miles from downtown St. Augustine

The hotel is located on a working local marina, near the on ramp for Vilano Beach. The road itself is quiet, and there is little within walking distance apart from a few restaurants. St Augustine is a two-mile drive inland.

Rooms

Individually owned condo units, many with balconies; suites have kitchenettes

Decor varies widely here, but all units have mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and DVD players. Suites have larger kitchen areas with sinks, larger dining areas, and foldout couches with separate sleeping areas. The pastel-blue Double Queen Room has a nautical theme, with starfish-printed pillows, starfish artwork, and seahorse sculpture base lamps, hardwood floors, an entryway, and a furnished balcony (most of the units have balconies). The Harborview King Room has a four-poster bed and bamboo furniture. Bathrooms have mostly shower/tub combos, and come with hairdryers and basic toiletries.

Features

Small pool, outdoor boardwalk area, and garden

A charming, if small, pool sits level with the tops of yachts docked adjacent to it; tent parasols stretch across swaths of the deck, offering protection from the sun. There is a small, winding boardwalk surrounded by lush vegetation that runs along the marina. The hotel serves a free continental breakfast, but there's no full restaurant or bar on-site. Coin-operated laundry and free Wi-Fi in the public areas are available.
