A walk into town
The Split Apartments-Peric are a collection of five flats set on a residential block 10 minutes' walk from Split's pretty, historic Old Town. Although most of the interiors feel dated, they're all perfectly clean and fully equipped for a self-catering stay. Only sleeping two or three people each, the apartments are ideal for couples or small families on a budget, though they are set a bit away from the tourist center. If this isn't an issue they're a great, no-frills, good-value option -- otherwise check out the more central Apartments Gajeta at around the same price.
Scene
Family-run residential apartments in apartment block, with a warm welcome
Beyond a small blue sign stating its name and (rather inflated) three-star-rating, there's nothing to distinguish this average-looking and partly graffitied apartment block from any other in the area. The property has been run as a family business since 2000; the wonderfully warm welcome (and welcome beer) from the owners may help visitors overlook its aesthetic shortcomings and settle into what looks and feels every inch somebody's home. The block is largely occupied by local residents, and the five apartments that comprise the "hotel" are scattered throughout the building. The vibe is as homey and residential as you can get -- lacking even a reception area -- and while interiors are mostly pretty dated, the place is thoroughly clean, comfortable, and pleasant enough.
Location
Set in quiet, residential neighborhood 10 minutes' walk from Split's Old Town
The apartments are located on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood about 10 minutes' walk from the Old Town center. The town's Archeological Museum is just a couple blocks away, as is a public park. Diocletian's Palace -- a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments -- is just under a mile away and packed with cafes, bars, and restaurants. Just beyond this popular tourist hub is town's seafront and port, where tourists can jump on boats and ferries bounds to Croatia's renowned islands. Split Airport is about 15 miles to the west of the town, or about a 30-minute drive -- airport transfers can be arranged with the apartment owner for a fee.
Rooms
Fully equipped apartments, though mostly dated in style, with free Wi-Fi
There are five apartments available, most of which are styled with slightly dated decor and homey furnishings. Despite the lack of polish, interiors are well-maintained and one of the apartments has been totally modernized with contemporary furnishings and decor that has a more 21st-century feel. All apartments are well equipped with fully fitted kitchens, living rooms, and bathrooms. Most sleep two or three people. Free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with some international channels, and washing machines come standard, and most units have a small balcony.
Features
Airport transfer service and free parking
There's nothing in the way of facilities beyond the self-catering apartments themselves, though an airport transfer service is available and there is a free parking lot next to the building. All apartments have free Wi-Fi and washing machines.
