Scene
A quaintly typical Tyrolean hotel that's been family-run for seven generations
First opened in 1810, this family-run spa hotel was originally a small inn. It has been under the management of the Sanoner family for seven generations (around 200 years), and in that time has grown to four buildings. After stepping inside, visitors are welcomed into a spacious, wood-clad lobby by staff in traditional dress behind a wood-slab topped reception desk. Large windows flood the space with light and stunning mountain views during the day, while a centerpiece chandelier and glass-boxed fireplace provide illumination and a cozy vibe in the evening. The surrounding Adler Park is an extensive well-tended garden with natural pools, wooden benches, and tidy lawns from where guests can enjoy the panoramic Dolomite vistas. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed.

Hotel Adler has a fantastic, panoramic position in the center of the traditional village of Ortisei, in the South Tyrol Dolomites in northeast Italy. The hotel is located in a pedestrianized area just off the main road and two blocks from the St Ulrich-Sieser Alm cablecar. From Ortisei there are also direct cable cars to the ski resorts of Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusi Seceda, while there are also numerous hiking trails just minutes away. The nearest railway station is in Bolzano, about a 50-minute drive away while Innsbruck Airport is an hour and a half away by car.
Rooms
Peaceful rooms open to furnished balconies with mountain views
The hotel has 120 rooms in total, all of which are decorated in a cozy, alpine-style blend of warm wood, simple wooden furnishings, and the odd splash of color. Expect pine wall paneling and bright fabrics with sophisticated brocade patterns; some rooms have wood ceiling beams. Most of the rooms open to furnished balconies, many with views over the town and the mountains beyond. Some rooms have renovated, modern bathrooms with walk-in showers (some rooms have tubs, too). Flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and minibars all come as standard.
Features
Largest "world of water" spa in the Dolomites
The hotel's spa and "world of water" is the largest and most impressive of its kind in the Dolomites -- it features numerous variations of pools, both indoor and out, from salt grotto to mountain lake. There are also six types of sauna and steam bath, as well as treatments rooms and a gym. A mini-club and play area is available for the kids, including a climbing wall and game room. The on-site Dolomiti restaurant serves traditional cooking from breakfast to dinner, while the bar serves cocktails and opens to a scenic terrace. All-inclusive and half-board rates are available.
