Built in 2007, the budget-friendly Ulisse Deluxe Hostel, catering to a mostly tourist crowd, adds a little boutique panache to the typical hostel set-up. The lobby, with brown sofas and chairs, a tiled floor, and wood front desk, is a bit basic in its aesthetic, but the vibrant breakfast lounge is a veritable explosion of color, with bright-yellow, fuchsia, lime-green, and orange tables and chairs against a black-and-white floor. Rooms are basic and come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. The top perk of a stay at the hostel is discounted access to the adjacent four-story wellness center, which includes a large indoor lap pool, saltwater thermal pool, rejuvenating ice grotto, sauna, fitness center, and spa with massages and beauty treatments.

The Ulisse Deluxe Hostel is in central Sorrento, just north of the S.S.-145/Via Capo road. Surrounded by concrete buildings and with no view of the beach and gulf, it's not a very scenic area. The Sorrento train station is about a half-mile east, and the ferries are a half-mile northeast. Within a 10-minute walk are the Dali Universe, Cathedral of Sorrento, Piazza Tasso, and Basilica di Sant'Antonino. Pompei is 18.5 miles away, and Mount Vesuvius is one hour and 20 minutes north. Naples and the Naples International Airport are about an hour north of the hotel.
