Scene
Charming and stylish property with sea views near the port
Once a yacht club, followed by apartments for various people and groups, Marina Piccola 73 is a charming, nine-room property. Located near the port, guests arrive to the beach-level front desk, where they are then shown through a gate that leads to the property. Renovations brought a charming look to the interiors, done in a mix of antique-looking pieces -- carved wood furniture, patterned rugs, and gilded artwork -- and modern accents -- purple-velvet armchairs and metal side tables. The effect is both stylish and cozy. A mirror-top lobby bar provides service for the outdoor terrace with various seating and pretty Mount Vesuvius views. There's not much else to this property, though that's largely the appeal for tourists wanting to be a bit removed from the often tourist-packed center.
Location
By the port, requiring stairs or elevator to reach city center
As its name implies, Marina Piccola 73 is along the water, just a few minutes' walk from the Port of Sorrento. It's convenient for travelers arriving or departing by ferries, which run to Naples, Positano, Capri, and Ischia. There are some restaurants and a beach near here, but for the bulk of eateries, bars, and shops, guests will need to head up to the center of town. To do so, travelers can either walk up a hill and a ton of steep steps, or take an elevator (for one euro during our visit). Overall, it's not a long walk, taking about 10 or so minutes to reach the main square of Piazza Tasso. On-site parking is available.Naples and its airport are roughly an hour away by car, while Rome is three hours. Positano, the nearest town on the Amalfi Coast, is about a 45-minute drive away.

A couple of unique room options include the Tower Room, a fun (albeit small) circular room with winding staircase leading to a top-floor bathroom, and the Deluxe Room that has arched ceilings and a stone cave-like bathroom with checkered floors.Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, minibars, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and safes.
