The 203-room Conca Park Hotel is an upper-middle-range property with a great location a 10-minute walk from Sorrento's center. Rooms range from older-looking units with wear to modern spaces with lovely terraces. All, however, have air-conditioning, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and furnished balconies. The medium-sized outdoor pool has a separate kiddy pool, and inside is a spa with a hot tub and various treatments (fee). Dining options consist of a main eatery serving substantial free breakfasts, spacious bar with seating in a garden, and a casual poolside cafe. Free Wi-Fi, small fitness center, extensive meeting space, and parking (fee) are perks, but many rooms are still in need of a significant refresh. It's worth considering the similarly priced Grand Hotel Aminta, which is a bit more charming, though it lacks a spa.
Scene
Big business-centric hotel with mix of dated and contemporary decor
The 1965-built Conca Park Hotel is one of the area's largest, housing over 200 rooms and meeting space for up to 250 people. Guests first arrive to the property's garage parking area, where an attendant will take bags and shuttle guests (if they want) via a golf cart through a long art-lined, uphill tunnel. The marble-floored lobby is simple, and a nearby elevator bank and staircase lead down to the main restaurant, bar, and spa facilities. Like rooms themselves, the common areas have a mix of old-fashioned and contemporary decor. This is evidenced most by the restaurant's mustard-colored chair and column cushions and traditional wood furniture. In sharp contrast is the nearby lounge bar, which has modern gray and blue seating with houndstooth prints, and Art Deco flair. The pool is decently sized for the number of rooms, though it's set in the shade for a large part of the day. Several meeting spaces and the sheer number of rooms mean that many events and conferences are held on-site. Also of note is the hotel's zero-waste initiatives, with everything from zero plastic dispensers to a near 100-percent recycling rate. Conca Park Hotel offers a good value for travelers wanting to be within walking distance of the town center, though guests should book a modern room until all are up-to-date. Those willing to pay a bit more may prefer the similar Hilton Sorrento Palace, which is nearby.
Location
Within a 10-minute walk of Sorrento's center
Conca Park has a stellar location that's close to all the sights of Sorrento, yet just outside the noise that accompanies it. It's set off a main road, allowing for easy car access. Dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops are within a 10-minute walk, as are sights such as Villa Fiorentino Park and Cathedral of Sorrento. The marina and beach are just over 10 minutes away on foot.Naples and its airport are about an hour's drive away, and public buses and trains run between the two cities.
Rooms
Mix of old-fashioned and modern rooms with furnished balconies
The 203 rooms vary in design between contemporary and old-fashioned. The latter have old wooden furniture in differing styles, simple linens in periwinkle and yellow-orange or cream and light-green, and white walls with mirrors, an octopus mural, or the words "Carpe Diem" as decoration. Contemporary units, meanwhile, have lighter wood floors, modern wood and metal furniture, and neutral-toned linens. All, however, come with furnished balconies or terraces -- some of which have gorgeous vistas. Also standard are flat-screen TVs, desks, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and closets with safes. Bathrooms also differ, from basic spaces with shower/tub combos to modern mosaic-tiled rooms with tubs and separate showers. Hairdryers, bidets, and bulk toiletry dispensers are provided. Suites add bathrobes and slippers. The James Bond Suite has a living space, multiple terraces, and an outdoor whirlpool. On the downside, some wear and tear is visible in older units, and some past guests have complained of noise issues due to thin walls.
Features
Outdoor pool, spa facilities, and buffet eatery serving free breakfast
Although most guests spend their days exploring Sorrento or at meetings on-site, there are several features at Conca Park. Firstly, an outdoor pool is decently sized for the number of rooms here, and it has a fountain feature, separate kiddy pool, and deck lined with loungers. Unfortunately, it's in the shade for a good part of each day. Inside, the spa has a big hot tub, plus areas for salon services, massage treatments, and exercise. The gym has just a few pieces of cardio equipment. Note that there are fees required to use the hot tub and pool towels. All rates include free breakfast buffets at the main restaurant. The spread is substantial and decent quality, consisting of cold meats and cheeses, pastries, made-to-order omelets and eggs, cereal, and coffee machines. Lunches are a la carte while dinner is served buffet-style. In the summer, an adjacent Blue Bar is open for sandwiches and drinks. The Lounge Bar is spacious and consists of multiple areas, all with various stylish seating. Off of here is a pretty outdoor garden where guests can have a drink.Three meeting rooms are available, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Parking is available for a fee.
