Scene

Homey inn with inviting country-chic breakfast room

The inn's main building is a two-story structure with taupe siding, stone features, and a large and inviting front porch dotted with potted plants and flowers. Flanked by a parking lot, the main building resides behind the street-side Vintners Cottage, a separate structure housing additional guest rooms. Guests are greeted in a homey lobby with pale yellow walls that enhance the sunlit nature of the space. Dark tiled floors complement wooden and wicker furniture. There's a cozy sitting area in front of a fireplace, with a chess set on hand. The open-plan layout also houses the breakfast room, a bright area illuminated by large windows and full of small dining tables flanked by wicker chairs, as well as floral patterned couches. Should guests want to dine alfresco, the breakfast area opens out onto a porch with bistro
tables.

Location

Located in downtown Sonoma near many shops and restaurants

Inn at Sonoma is conveniently located on the main highway into Sonoma and within a
five-minute walk of Sonoma Plaza. This main square of the town is surrounded by many restaurants, bars, shops, and galleries, all easily accessible on foot. There’s a gas station
right by the hotel as well as a post office across the street, and there's a bus stop serving several lines right out front. The area is renowned for its wineries, many of which are a short drive away, but there are also several options that are accessible via bike (the inn provides free bikes). Santa Rosa is a 45-minute drive away, and the San Francisco Airport
is within an hour-and-a-half drive.

Rooms

Pleasant, cheerful rooms with fireplaces and modern amenities, plus some with private balconies

Rooms at the inn are divided between the main building and the separate Vintners Cottage. Main building rooms feature shabby-chic decor like striped walls in pastel hues, floral or striped bedspreads, and patterned armchairs. Rooms in the Vintners Cottage are more modern in style with pale yellow walls, low beds with sleek headboards, and black-and-white framed photos. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, DVD players, Keurig coffee machines (though in some units these are in the bathroom), iPod docks, fireplaces, and free Wi-Fi. Some also have private balconies or patios. Modern bathrooms have shower/tub combos and are outfitted with fluffy bathrobes and toiletries; some have jetted spa tubs.

Features

Free hot breakfast and afternoon wine and hors d’oeuvres, plus outdoor hot tub, bicycles to borrow, and free Wi-Fi

The hotel provides a free breakfast
including items like blueberry pancakes, artichoke quiche,
honey-buttermilk muffins, and fresh fruit, which is served in the breakfast room adjoining the lobby or can be taken outside on the porch. Other free, tasty treats served throughout the day include an afternoon reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres as well as homemade cookies in the lobby. There’s
also an outdoor hot tub on a small
patio surrounded by lounge chairs. Guests are invited to borrow bicycles for exploring the
area. Other freebies include Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and parking.
