Pros
- Affordable hotel walking distance to downtown Santa Rosa's restaurants
- Free Wi-Fi, breakfast, and self-parking
- Decent-size rooms with flat-screen TVs
- (Small) fitness center
- Casual Bistro serves specialty Starbucks coffee drinks
- Pets allowed
Cons
- Lacks the charm of small Sonoma hotels
- Blah room decor with outdated carpeting and furniture
- Pool is surrounded by concrete and parking lots
- Tiny bathrooms
Bottom Line
Just a short walk from Historic Railroad Square, the 126-room Courtyard by Marriott Santa Rosa is a pretty standard mid-range chain, for Santa Rosa. It has all the standard amenities -- a (small) fitness center, outdoor pool, and a casual restaurant/bar -- but there's nothing really standout about it. It lacks the charm of other Sonoma Valley hotels, which to be fair is harder to find in the city of Santa Rosa than in other areas, but is a fine choice for guests looking for an affordable basic hotel.

In Santa Rosa, a short walk from the Historic Railroad Square
The Courtyard by Marriott is in downtown Santa Rosa, near historic Railroad Square and just a few minutes' walk to the heart of the city -- very convenient to restaurants, shops, and cafes.
Santa Rosa, while not the most picturesque city in Sonoma Valley, offers a lot more than just wine-tasting. The downtown area is full of department stores, restaurants, bars, hotels and office buildings, making it the only real "city" in the area. It's also one of the more kid-friendly areas in the region, with an amusement park and ice arena right in town.
