The 16-room Bodega Harbor Inn is an older, budget hotel with a combination of guestrooms, suites, and vacation apartments, most with harbor views. With the feel of a 1950s beach motel and a bit of a fishing shack vibe, the no-frills inn is friendly and warm, with comfortable beds and helpful staff. Rooms are quaint, if a bit dated when it comes to decor, and clean, making this a great home base for a peaceful weekend at the beach.
Scene
Harbor views, peaceful lawns, welcoming and low-key atmosphere
The Bodega Harbor Inn is set on a wide expanse of lawn with a line of candy-colored Adirondack chairs on which guests -- mostly weekending couples from the Bay Area -- can sit and read or just hang out and enjoy the lovely harbor view. In the early morning, guests can watch the fishing fleet head out to sea from the patio. The blue, sea-worn buildings have white-trimmed windows with flower-filled window boxes, and turquoise picnic tables and grills on patios invite guests to cook out. The unassuming but cheerful lobby is stocked with hot coffee and a microwave for guests to use. Lighthouse and seagull carvings, among other sea-themed tchotchkes, add to the coastal feel. Everything about the Bodega Harbor Inn is low-key, and guests who like brand-new furnishings and super-modern amenities won't find them here, but for a weekend getaway near the coast, with a book (and the free bottle of wine that comes with check-in), this motel will work just fine.

Clean and basic, with antique furnishings and some private decks and outdoor hot tubs
