Bottom Line

The four-and-a-half-pearl Westin Singapore is smack in the middle of Singapore's business district, with lots of polished luxurious style. While it has several meeting spaces, the appeal here goes beyond the suit-and-tie set. The location -- a 10-minute walk from Chinatown and near the metro -- is certainly a plus, though the refined style and impeccable views are all hard to beat. Rooms are modern and spacious, while suites come with high-end touches like Bose sound systems. Wi-Fi, sadly, costs extra. The rooftop infinity pool is fantastic, and there's a proper gym plus a lovely city-view spa. Dining options include a cozy pub, cafe, and live-cooking restaurant. This luxury hotel will be hard to beat, but it might be worth looking at the Sofitel So Singapore for an equally opulent alternative.

Scene

Sleek and stylish luxury option with amazing city and sea views from many vantages

In a sleek tower that soars above most of the financial buildings that surround it, The Westin is a polished luxury hotel that's one of the nicer outposts in the chain. Due to its sky-high status, the hotel benefits from some spectacular views over the Singapore Strait and the surrounding city. In the lobby -- which is on the 32nd floor -- those views are celebrated with a wall of windows that flood the space with natural light, while a striking light sculpture fills the ceiling. Contrasting this bright and breezy atmosphere are handsome design choices like an abundance of dark wood, rich marble, and parlor-style seating arrangements throughout the common areas. The occasional piece of traditional pottery is a nod to the local culture, and a gleaming escalator leads upwards to the rest of the hotel. With its gorgeous, light-filled spa, numerous dining and drinking options, and spacious rooms, this Westin has broad appeal, for both corporate travelers and tourists alike.

Location

In the financial district, a 10-minute walk to Chinatown and near several metro stations

Located in the heart of the financial district, The Westin Singapore is also just a 10-minute walk from Chinatown. There are a number of metro stations nearby, making it easy to get around the city. It's a two-minute walk to the Downtown MRT stop, which connects to attractions such as the beautiful Gardens by the Bay, the ArtScience Museum, and the Singapore Flyer in a few minutes. Historic Little India will take about 15 minutes to reach by metro. Buses leave from The Sail bus stop, a five-minute walk from The Westin, and the trip to Orchard Road by bus will take about 30 minutes. The same journey takes 20 minutes by taxi. It's also a 20-minute journey to the airport by car, or a fairly simple MRT journey, via the Downtown and EastWest Lines in roughly an hour.

Rooms

Stylish rooms with calm, natural decor plus suites featuring large living areas and superb city views

Rooms at The Westin Singapore, as with the rest of the hotel, are sleek and stylish. Details include deep pile carpets, large windows, crisp white linens, and calming natural cream and brown tones. Club Rooms and suites are located on the top floors, with superb views over the city and sea plus access to the Club Lounge. The spacious Executive and Harborview Suites feature dual-aspect windows to maximize those views, as well as separate bedrooms. Standard features include iPod docking stations, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, safes, air-conditioning, minibars, electric kettles, and work areas. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi isn't free. Suites have larger TVs and Bose music systems. Robes and slippers are provided in all rooms. Bathrooms are well-finished in marble and dark wood, with free-standing windowside bathtubs, separate shower stalls with rainfall showerheads, and counter-top sinks. Executive and Harborview Suites have a dual sinks and an extra WC.

Features

Four restaurants, an infinity pool, gym, and spa with whirlpool and aromatherapy steam room

The Westin has a number of features, include a total of four eateries. Daily Treats is located in the street-side lobby and serves fresh deli food including sandwiches, fruit juices, and coffee during office hours. The main lobby on the 32nd floor houses a cozy bar serving afternoon tea and light bites, plus an excellent cocktail menu and evening entertainment. The main restaurant is also found on this level, offering a beautifully presented buffet from breakfast to dinner, while upstairs, the cozy pub is a great place to kick back alongside superb views and a varied bar menu including snacks and full meals. For a cool dip and amazing city views, head up to the infinity pool, which has a few sun loungers and great views out to sea (though new buildings have obstructed those vantages in recent years). The well-equipped gym has a range of cardio and weight-bearing machines, and the spa includes a menu of relaxing treatments, a whirlpool, and an aromatherapy steam room. A smart Club Lounge has table seating, TVs, and a PC. Free snacks and drinks are available there throughout the day for Club-level members and higher-category bookings (other perks include free breakfasts for these guests). There are two more workstations in the main lobby plus several meeting spaces. Other services include laundry, valet and self-parking, and Wi-Fi, all at an extra fee.
