Once home to the General Post Office, the Fullerton is one of Singapore’s grande dames. It has the extensive amenities you'd expect at a 5-pearl hotel, including four stately dining venues, a bar, a well-equipped fitness center (though machines lack individual TVs), a spa, and a pretty infinity pool with views of the Marina Bay and the skyline. There's even an art gallery and a room with a permanent exhibit of stamps, maps and old photographs. But it’s starting to show its age, and rooms, though luxurious, lack wow factor; they have neutral color palettes and hard mattresses. Its fairly central location and understated elegance make it a fine luxury pick, but it’s worth checking prices at its more impressive sister property, the Fullerton Bay Hotel.

The Fullerton Hotel is located right across the river from the Esplanade Park and the Asian Civilisation Museum. It’s possible to explore some of the attractions on foot, but it might feel more convenient to take public transportation, as most sights are over a 15-minute walk from the hotel. There’s a wide array of restaurants and shopping malls in the neighborhood, and Chinatown is nearby too. For longer distances, the Raffles Place MTR station is a five-minute walk from the hotel, and several bus lines run along Fullerton Road, just outside the hotel.- 23-minute drive to Changi International Airport
