Inside, the hotel is far from modern, but it has a degree of simple charm, with dark-wood floors, whitewashed walls, and colorful wall hangings. Though tucked in a stairwell, a large golden statue of the Buddha on top of a glass-topped wooden table stands out. The small breakfast room has terra-cotta tiled floors, bent-wood chairs, and little tables with round marble tops. The hotel tends to attract tourists looking to stay in a small and quiet hotel in the relative calm of the charming Little India district, while still retaining good links into the city center.

Located toward the eastern end of Singapore’s relatively quiet Little India district, the hotel is surrounded by shops and restaurants. Although the hotel is in a calmer part of town, that does not mean that it is cut off from the city center or tourist hotspots. It is only a 12-minute drive or 14 minutes by public transit to Clarke Quay and the Orchard shopping district. Chinatown is a similar distance away by car, or 18 minutes away by RMT from the nearby Rochor station, just over the river from the hotel. The Marina Gardens are a 15- to 20-minute drive away, or half an hour on public transport. Expect a 20- to 25-minute transfer to Changi Airport by car, or just over an hour by public transit.
Rooms
Small, basic rooms with sufficient amenities
The 35 rooms are basic but comfortable, with white walls, traditional wooden furniture, dark-wood floors, and patterned bed runners and artwork to provide some decoration. All but the lowest-category rooms have French windows and blue wooden shutters that open. Standard Rooms have a double bed, small wooden desk and chair, and a flat-screen TV on top of a wooden stand that houses a minibar, kettle, and cups. A wardrobe with a safe and air-conditioning also come standard. Superior Rooms are a bit larger, and can accommodate an extra bed. Triple rooms are decorated in a Japanese style, with three single mattresses placed on a raised wooden platform. Family Rooms consist of two interconnecting rooms: One with a double bed, and one with two singles. Bathrooms are tiny and clinical feeling with white tiles, a shower cubicle, liquid soap dispenser, and a hairdryer.
