Naumi Hotel is a
super-stylish, upscale boutique hotel located in Singapore's business district, surrounded by excellent restaurants and high-end shopping. While the
hotel's highlight is the superb infinity pool with awesome city views, the 73 guest rooms are also
impressive with outstanding technology -- though beware some are small and
windowless. The Naumi is one of the most hip and happening hotels in the city, but if travelers want something a bit more
traditional, the Conrad Centennial Singapore near the marina offers a good alternative.
Scene
Hip boutique hotel with off-beat facade and friendly vibe
With its towering
gray facade festooned with climbing greenery and a Banksy-type mural, the Naumi Hotel hints from the get-go that it's a little bit special. Stepping
inside, it doesn't disappoint -- funky design furnishings and a gravity-defying
reception desk create a cool future-retro vibe, while polished marble and warm-wood flooring evoke a feeling of traditional upscale style. Although knowingly
hip, the mood is also playful and friendly, with attentive and knowledgeable "Naumi Aides"
always on hand to assist guests. The upscale boutique ambience continues throughout the
property, all the way to its 10th-floor rooftop terrace, with an infinity pool offering
sweeping views over the surroundings.
Location
Where Singapore's upscale shopping meets the buzzing business district
The hotel is
located in Singapore’s Central Business District, surrounded by some of the
city's best bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. And as it's positioned where
upscale shopping meets the buzzing financial district, it's a popular location
for both tourists and business visitors, while also being a 10-minute stroll
from the city's iconic waterfront. There are two MRT subway stations within five
minutes' walk, while the lush and peaceful oasis of Fort Canning Park is within
a seven-minute walk. Changi International Airport is less than a 20-minute drive away, and more than an hour's trip on public transportation.
Rooms
Super-chic decor with impressive high-tech touches -- though some rooms lack windows
There are 73
guest rooms spread across five room categories and nine floors (one floor is women-only).
Most of these -- Habitat, Oasis, and Patio -- are super-smart in cool neutral
tones with clean lines and chic minimalist decor, while other rooms include
Coco-Chanel and Andy Warhol-inspired styling. Amenities are outstanding, and include free Wi-Fi, huge flat-screen Apple TVs with AirPlay Mirroring, and free
minibars that are replenished daily (though non-alcoholic drinks only). Extra
comfy beds have 400 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, while bathroom amenities include robes, slippers,
and Malin + Goetz products. Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii consoles are also available
for loan free of charge, and suites include kitchenettes. While Patio Rooms
open to small outdoor areas some Habitat Rooms are small and some lack windows.
Features
Outstanding infinity-edge pool with cityscape panorama
An excellent
though fairly limited buffet breakfast of hot and cold items is served each
morning in the hotel's Table restaurant (not included in all rates), which also
offers a menu of Indian a la carte fare for lunch and dinner. By day, the hotel bar
takes on a coffee lounge vibe, while at night it becomes a whiskey bar with a
choice of more than 17 brands. Beer and wine are also served in the late afternoon
for a couple hours, free of charge. The real highlight of the hotel is
its superb rooftop infinity-edge pool that overlooks the Singapore cityscape
and includes comfortable seating and dining tables -- although it's occasionally closed for private parties. Up-to-date fitness
equipment with iPod docks and TVs are also available across three small gym rooms.
