Scene

Beautifully restored building dates back to 1900

Goodwood Park Hotel is a heritage hotel located in the popular tourist hub of Orchard, Singapore. Housed in a uniquely designed building that dates back to 1900, much of the original beauty has been faithfully restored. The Grand Tower was officially announced as a national monument in 1989. The hotel keeps its connection from the past with original architectural designs and a statue of the late Tan Sri Khoo Tech Puat, a previous owner, in the lobby. There's also the Tang Treasures Suite, displaying 88 artifacts from an Arab dhow that sunk off an Indonesian island. The rather grand entrance leads into a large open lobby, with tiled flooring and leather armchairs. There are plenty of spaces within the hotel for guests to explore, including seven dining facilities, two swimming pools, fitness center, business center, and spa with hair salon. The hotel is geared to both business and leisure travelers -- and most certainly travelers who came to Singapore to shop.

Location

Located just off Orchard Road, close to shopping and restaurants

The Goodwood Park Hotel is located on a busy street just off Orchard Road -- the popular tourist hub for shopping and restaurants. The Far East Plaza shopping mall is right next to the hotel. There's a high concentration of shops and restaurants located along the street. It's a 10-minute walk to Orchard Road, which is home to numerous shops and several bars and nightclubs. For more shopping, it's a 10-minute walk to both the luxury mall T Galleria by DFS and ION Orchard. It's a 15-minute walk to Ngee Ann City for branded boutiques. Most well known tourist attractions are several bus stops away; there's a bus stop a few steps from the hotel and the Orchard MRT Station is a seven-minute walk away. Singapore Botanic Gardens is a 10-minute drive, while the very popular Gardens by the Bay is a 20-minute drive. Chinatown is a 15-minute cab ride away, as is the popular dining and nightlife spot Clarke Quay to Marina Bay. Changi Airport is about 40 minutes by car or 60 minutes by public transportation.

Rooms

Tastefully decorated rooms feature flat-screen TVs, minibars, and private balconies

The 233 guest rooms and suites are spread over four wings: Lobby, Mayfair, Tower, and Parklane. Rooms are classy and spacious; they have tasteful contemporary furnishings and some Old World charm. Expect neutral color schemes of gray, tan, and white used in the carpeting, curtains, linen, and furnishings. The various rooms each feature their own decor and design -- some are quite simple and basic, while others are more dramatic with Neo-Classical touches and contemporary flair. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, tea/coffee making facilities, minibars, safes, free smartphones with international calling capabilities, and private balconies overlooking either the garden or swimming pool. The suites are air-conditioned, but Deluxe Rooms and Heritage Rooms only have ceiling fans. Bathrooms are large and feature shower/tub combos, bathrobes, hairdryers, and toiletries. For longer stays, the Parklane Split Level Suite and the Parklane Split Level Studio Suite are located in a separate building next to the hotel. These suites offer modern apartment-style living with a separate bedroom, spacious living and dining room, large bathroom, fully-equipped kitchenette, and balcony.

Features

Seven dining facilities, two outdoor swimming pools, and spa

The Goodwood Park Hotel is both grand in size and available features. Guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining options -- with seven outlets available. There's the Coffee Lounge and L'Espresso, both good for light meals and delicious high tea service. The Deli serves an assortment of cakes, pastries, hot savory pies, and sandwiches for takeaway. For fine-dining, there's the Gordon Grill, Min Jiang, and Min-Jiang at One-North -- each with its own Asian cuisine, decor, and experience. The Highland Bar, adjacent to the Gordon Grill restaurant, is perfect for aperitifs and after dinner drinks. Breakfast comes with an extra fee and room service is only available for suite guests. The main swimming pool provides a panoramic view of the hotel. The Mayfair Swimming Pool is a bit more secluded, surrounded by beautiful trees and gazebos lined with ivy. Both pools include decks with seating and sun loungers, as well as small wading pools for kids. The fitness center includes both cardio- and weight-training equipment; the space has large windows overlooking the garden. The business center offers a range of comprehensive business and secretarial services, including computers available for guest use. There's free Wi-Fi available throughout the property. Guests are issued with a free smartphone with free international call capability. Goodwood Park Hotel has two grand ballrooms and two boardrooms to cater to weddings, events and functions of up to 450 guests (depending on the event set-up). Additional features include free private parking, concierge, laundry service, and a spa with a hair salon. There's also a gift shop that sells desserts, jewelry, and women's clothing.
