Days Hotel by Wyndham Singapore at Zhongshan Park

The Days Inn Singapore at Zhongshan Park is a clean, modern property with standard amenities. It draws mostly tourists and some business travelers for its value and reliability. It's a big hotel that manages to exude a calm atmosphere. The building, glass and steel surrounded by trees and gardens, is part of an integrated development built in 2013. Inside, a dramatic wall of geometric illuminated panels sits behind a bulky reception desk. A sectional sofa in charcoal velour with an oversize coffee table of striated wood provides seating. The restaurant, 21 on Rajah, is a white columned space with white and natural wood tables with cushioned white chairs on striped carpeting that matches the banquettes. Its entryway has a massive, cartoon-like sculpture of a cat atop a tomato. The buffet is presented attractively on stainless steel and granite counters with natural and artificial light. The fitness center has floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook a checkerboard garden of grass and stone, and a rectangular reflecting pool.

This Days Inn Singapore is in a quiet neighborhood, Balestier, on a former sugar cane plantation flanking Zhongshan Park, with a small museum, the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, a six-minute walk away. It's a seven-minute walk to the Burmese Buddhist Temple. Balestier Heritage Trail is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. It takes 15 minutes on foot to reach the Novena metro station, although the hotel runs a free shuttle to the metro and the Orchard Road shopping area, a trip that's 10-minutes by car or 31 minutes on public transportation. The central business district of Singapore is a 10-minute drive or 28 minutes on public transportation. It takes 11 minutes by car to reach the Marina Bay Sands Casino or 36 minutes on public transportation. Raffles City is 12 minutes by car or 37 minutes by train. The Peranakan Museum and the National Museum of Singapore are a 12-minute drive or 34 minutes on public transportation. The Changi Singapore Airport is a 20 minute drive or 75 minutes on public transportation.  

The 405 guest rooms at the Days Hotel Singapore get a lot of natural light from big windows, which offer views of the park and city. Walls are painted in shades of sky blue or warm orange. Windows include  small, cushioned bench seats, taupe drapes, and sheers. Serta mattresses with crisp duvets and shams in white with pale blue trim sit atop a fabric-covered platform. Headboards are incorporated into a wall-spanning rectangle of light wood. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, 32-inch LED flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air conditioning, and a digital music player. They also include coffee- and tea-making facilities, an iron and ironing board, and robes and slippers. Bathrooms are functional with fluorescent lighting, white porcelain fixtures and stall showers with handheld showerheads and glass doors, hairdryers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. There's not much counter space. One special feature are its Sol Terre toiletries, products that include sunflower and grapefruit oils.

There is a thoughtful range of amenities at Days Hotel, including free Wi-Fi and a free shuttle to the metro stop and shopping district. For other transportation, the hotel rents kick scooters and has a rental car desk on-site. The property offers all-day dining at its 21 on Rajah restaurant, which has extensive buffets, including a raw bar and carving station.
