Bay Hotel Singapore

The hotel is housed in an 11-story, mostly glass building that faces a busy freeway overpass. The industrial, city scene is balanced out by quiet Mount Faber, which is located in the hotel's backyard. From the lobby bar to the pool, the Bay Hotel Singapore doesn't hesitate to show off this beautiful historic hillside, giving guests sweeping open-air and bay window views throughout its common spaces.

The main entrance and lobby of the hotel is minimally decorated and located on the third floor. It's constantly filled with luggage and a mix of family, solo, group, and business travelers checking in and out. The Bay Hotel Singapore is one of the only hotels in the HarbourFront area and one of the more affordable upscale hotels in the city. Because of its lower price point, higher-end vibe, and still reasonably central location, The Bay Hotel Singapore attracts a wide variety of travelers. It's suited to families looking for alternatives to the more expensive options on Sentosa Island, as well as couples or business travelers who don't mind using the MRT to reach downtown attractions. 

The Bay Hotel Singapore is one of the only hotels in the HarbourFront area, which is in between the Downtown Core and Sentosa Island. This allows it to appeal to travelers who are interested in spending time in either, and who don't mind taking taxis or the MRT to get around. The hotel’s front door practically opens to the Sentosa Gateaway, while it’s backyard houses the historic Mount Faber, which has trails to the summit for visitors to hike. The other major point of interest in the immediate area is VivoCity, a huge shopping mall that's an eight-minute walk away.  

Travelers looking for more grown up adventure and late-night fun can drive 10 minutes to exciting Chinatown and Club Street, or Clarke Quay. To actually get to Sentosa (home to Universal Studios, among other attractions), it’s a 20-minute walk across the gateway boardwalk (with a fee to enter). Visitors can also access it via Singapore Cable Car (leaving from Mount Faber), Sentosa Express monorail, or the HarbourFront Bus Interchange. 

The rooms at the Bay Hotel Singapore are small. With a Standard Room coming in at just over 160 square feet, there isn’t a lot of space for guests to spread out, especially if they’re sharing a room. But they're thoroughly modern in both look and amenities. The decor in muted earth tones is understated and streamlined. Each room comes equipped with a high-definition flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, safe, and free fully stocked minibar. The bathrooms include free toiletries and walk-in showers with relaxing rainfall showerheads. Bathtubs with sweeping views of the city are offered in Deluxe Rooms or Suites. Guests staying in these rooms also receive a free smartphone with unlimited data and free international calls to five countries, including the United States.  

The Bay Hotel Singapore may not offer the same amount of luxury amenities as the resorts on Sentosa Island, but it has the key features to keep adults and kids entertained -- at a cheaper rate. It also offers more features than some downtown competitors, such as AMOY by Far East Hospitality or The Scarlet Hotel, which lack the pool found here. The hotel's narrow outdoor pool is open 24/7 and suitable for laps; it has lovely views of Mount Faber. The 24-hour fitness center, located off of the pool, is a bit cramped but shares the pool's nice views. The restaurant, Street 50, serves classic Singapore dishes and provides 24-hour room service; there are also drinks and small bites available in the lobby lounge.
