Scene

Business-friendly chain hotel with Executive Club Lounge

Fairmont Singapore is part of Raffles City, a development with tall towers designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei and opened

in 1986. Outside the entrance of the hotel is a large, round fountain, and in the lobby there is a striking piece of art with 800 individually hand-blown glass balls. There's also a large, impressive painting behind the front desk meant to illustrate Singapore's cultural diversity. A massive renovation to the lobby, North Tower rooms, and cocktail bar was completed in 2014, and the sleek design was intended to be a reflection of Straits Chinese culture and the city's heritage. Despite these updates, some further renovations are needed -- the lounge chairs at the pool could be replaced, and the spa is

The Fairmont's restaurants are destinations in their own right, and can attract a lively, well-heeled scene in the evenings.

Location

In a busy neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and bars

Fairmont Singapore is located in the Raffles City complex, adjacent to the iconic Raffles Hotel. The development has another hotel, Swissotel, which shares the Fairmont’s swimming pool and spa. There’s also a convention center and a shopping mall with fashion and accessory stores including Desigual and Coach.

The neighborhood has plenty of restaurants, businesses, and bars. The hotel is near the City Hall MRT station, and the Changi International Airport can be reached in under an hour on public transportation or in 20 minutes by car.

Rooms

Modern, appealing rooms with small balconies and Nespresso machines

Some of the rooms at Fairmont Singapore have been remodeled more recently than others; specifically, the Fairmont Rooms in the North Tower were renovated in 2014. These rooms are spacious and modern with decorative, patterned gray carpeting and purple accessories including a velvety bedroom bench, sleek lamps, and a stylish bolster pillow. A desk with chairs and a chaise lounge chair offer additional space to work or relax. All rooms have private balconies, minibars, Nespresso coffee machines, bathrobes, and slippers. Premier Rooms have bathrooms with rain showers and aromatherapy toiletries. Wi-Fi is included in some room rates, and Executive Club Rooms come with extra perks such as free breakfast. Rooms are available with harbor-view balconies, and Penthouse Suites are available with in-room saunas and whirlpools.

Features

Fitness center, spa, and outdoor pool

The hotel has a number of restaurants including Szechuan Court serving Szechuan and Cantonese food, Mikuni serving robatayaki and sushi, Prego serving Italian food, and Anti:dote serving cocktails and tapas in a chic space. For Executive Club guests, there’s an exclusive lounge serving evening cocktails, and breakfast is free; guests not in the Executive Club can pay for breakfast at several different venues. The hotel has a large fitness center with free weights and a variety

of Cybex exercise machines including treadmills, stationary bicycles, and elliptical machines. Exercise classes are available, and the hotel also has six tennis courts. There’s an outdoor pool as well as a spa with whirlpools and a sauna, but these spaces could use a renovation. Manicures and pedicures are available.
