A 20-minute drive outside of Siena, Hotel Garden is a classic 125-room hotel surrounded by lush garden grounds with roses, pine trees, and stone paths. There’s a large outdoor pool in a grassy lawn, as well as a tennis court (but no fitness center). The restaurant serves regional cuisine on a beautiful terrace as well as in a dining room with wrap-around windows offering views of Siena. The outdoor areas of the hotel are beautiful, but the indoor spaces are in need of a revamp. The lobby feels dated and bedspreads and curtains in some rooms are in need of an upgrade. The similarly priced Hotel Athena doesn't have a pool, but is closer to the popular sites of Siena.

Upper-mid-range hotel set in gorgeous gardens
Beyond a towering red brick gate, the gardens surrounding Hotel Garden are lovely. Stone paths cut through grassy lawns landscaped with pine trees, manicured bushes, roses, and a tunnel covered in vines. Tall bushes create a border around the big outdoor pool with a red-brick deck, and the tranquil vibe extends throughout the hotel. However, the outdoor spaces are more pristine than indoors, which can feel a bit dark and dated.
Location
Fifteen-minute drive from Siena’s main square
The hotel is outside of the Siena city center. Siena’s main square and the site of the famous Palio horse races, Piazza del Campo, can be reached within a 15-minute drive. The Siena Train Station is within a 20-minute walk, and buses to Siena stop next to the hotel. It is less than a three-hour drive from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome.

Rooms at Hotel Garden have white walls, wood or tile flooring, and somewhat dated decor, varying from plaid couches and curtains to floral bedspreads. The rooms are divided among four buildings, with the rooms in the Belvedere building offering the most amenities including coffee/tea kettles, iPod docks, and minibars included in the price. All other buildings have minibars for a fee. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi is available for a fee.
