Primefold Hotel

After being picked up at the airport for free, guests are welcomed at this hotel with a cold drink, fresh fruit, and refreshing towel. This sets the stage for the pampering level of service that shines through here, which is complemented by the hotel's sharp, boutique style. This lovely little gem is situated in a beautiful garden with lush tropical greenery and flowers all around. Like the rest of the hotel, the lobby is decorated in contemporary Khmer style that has vintage touches, with tiled floors, cushioned wooden benches, and red accent pillows and lighting. The lobby is a relaxing, cozy space for hanging out, and there are benches outside where guests can unwind as well. Fish swim in pools by the stairs and the entrance. The atmosphere here is laid-back, friendly, and romantic -- it's especially popular with couples, but families and groups also pass through.

This hotel is situated just south of the river in central Siem Reap, close to restaurants, bars, and shops. The immediate area is far quieter than is found in the city's main areas. However, Pub Street and the Old Market can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot. Wat Damnak pagoda is a six-minute walk, and the temples of Angkor are about 20 minutes away by car. Also plan on about 20 minutes to reach the airport. 

The hotel's 14 rooms are all individually decorated in a lovely contemporary Khmer style with attractive retro details. The Deluxe King Room that we visited features a brick-and-wood wall behind the bed and a striking green-and-white checkerboard floor. Black-and-white Cambodian photos hang on the wall, and an open shelf displays local artifacts around a flat-screen TV. It's just an example of the kind of style you'll see here. Standard features in all rooms include air-conditioning, safes, mini-fridges, electric kettles, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are modern and attractive, and many include separate showers and tubs. The Presidential and Cabana Suites have tubs next to the beds. Robes and slippers are provided, as are hairdryers and toiletries. All rooms have balconies or terraces with views of the street, the gardens, or the pool. The Cabana Suite has a private garden by the pool. 

For such a small property, this hotel offers a surprising number of features. The restaurant, Sankya, is named after a popular local dessert. It's in a lovely setting next to the pool, with plants and trees all around. The menu includes both Western and local options, and breakfast is free, with buffet and a la carte choices. Reviews from previous guests are solid. Nestled between the buildings, the beautiful pool is a peaceful oasis, surrounded by lush greenery and tropical flowers. Cushioned lounge chairs shaded by umbrellas invite poolside relaxation, and fountains in the pool add soothing sounds. The spa offers traditional massage services, with or without aromatherapy oils. A business desk has two Mac computers for guests to use. It's positioned next to a large window with views of the gardens. The hotel offers assistance with tours and excursions, and airport transportation is provided for free. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
