Bottom Line

The 324-room Angkor Miracle Resort is one of the largest hotels in Siem Reap and is popular with tour groups. The upscale hotel is near the airport, but a 10-minute drive from the lively center of town. Rooms are smart, with fine wood floors and furniture as well as flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. An array of features includes a large swimming pool with a hot tub and kids’ section, a spa, fitness center, salon, and space for events. There are also several bars, a restaurant, and a cafe. While it isn’t quite as sprawling and grand as the nearby Angkor Palace Resort, it is a bit cheaper and offers a good value.

Scene

Upscale resort with impressive interiors that's popular with tour groups

The Angkor Miracle Resort & Spa is an outlying upscale resort that offers a lot more space and polish for guests than many properties in the center of town. The entrance is fronted by a fountain, with stone lion and Apsara statues guarding the way. Inside, the regal lobby features thick pillars holding up a teak ceiling panel, with marble flooring below and an Apsara bas-relief carving behind the reception desk. Almost anywhere guests look, some dash of traditional Khmer culture has been employed in a decorative, but tasteful, way. There are bright red pillows on padded teak chairs plus bowls of floating flowers, and even a musician playing a traditional khim on occasion. This is by no means a tranquil escape, though, as plenty of tour groups pass through -- often from China -- and the hotel is a popular venue for functions and events. The bustling vibe in the hotel's main common area is only heightened by the busy Mezzanine Lounge, located just up the teak stairs, lending this property a hectic vibe that may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Location

Located on the main road near the airport, a 10-minute drive from town

The hotel is in a great spot if you’ve got an early flight to catch or are arriving in Siem Reap late, as it's on National Road 6 and about a 10-minute drive to the airport. The road is wide and full of traffic all day, but the hotel and its facilities are set back enough that this isn’t an issue. The Cambodian Cultural Village is right across the street and the Siem Reap War Museum is close by as well, but there are no restaurants, bars, or shops nearby. In order to reach Siem Reap's lively downtown area and popular Pub Street guests will need to take a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride from the hotel. The hotel also runs a free shuttle bus into town three times a day, but there is no return service. Angkor Wat, the main temple in the sprawling ancient UNESCO site, is about 15 minutes away by car or tuk-tuk. Other temples take more time to reach depending on the destination.

Rooms

Spacious, attractive rooms and suites with handsome wooden details

There are 324 rooms across an array of categories and configurations at the Angkor Miracle Resort, with smart and pleasant decor that includes an abundance of handsome wooden flooring and furniture. Decor has a minimalist sensibility, but remains warm, a feat accomplished by white walls with terra-cotta bas reliefs used in sparing ways and the attractive wood tones throughout. All room are spacious and have high ceilings, with the smallest category offering 40 square meters of space for guests (431 square feet). Beds are made with white linens. Furniture can include classic armchairs with Khmer silhouettes and day beds. The majority of the rooms are entry-level Deluxe Rooms, but they come in an array of choices, with the cheapest being the Deluxe Garden View, followed by the Deluxe Pool View. Rooms are housed in two different wings, one of which is newer. Older wing rooms feature bedside control panels for all the lights and devices, but they don't have balconies, while those in the newer wing do. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, electronic safes, minibars, electric hot water kettles, and free Wi-Fi. Cabana Rooms have the extra plus of a large swing seat on their poolside patios, while suites have separate living rooms and dining areas, two televisions, two balconies, and DVD players, among other extra features. Bathrooms are slightly less spectacular than the main body of the rooms, with tile floors and walls, though all have separate showers and tubs with contemporary fixtures.

Features

Large pool with hot tub and kids’ pool, plus a spa, restaurant, cafe, and lounge

As one of the larger hotels in the area, Angkor Miracle Resort & Spa offers plenty to keep guests busy or help them unwind after a day touring the Angkor sights. There is a long outdoor swimming pool that's suitable for laps and gets plenty of sunshine, plus it has a kids’ section and a hot tub. The pool is ringed by artsy Angkor-style statues and there are plenty of umbrellas and sun loungers, while the pool bar offers cabana service. The hotel also has a decent fitness center with weight and cardio machines, as well as a spa with vibrant red treatment rooms, several of which have their own sauna, steam room, and hot tub. There is also a salon offering beauty treatments, including hair-styling, manicures, and pedicures. There is an extensive souvenir shop in the lobby stocked with scarves, carvings, jewelry, and many other local items. For eating and drinking, the Kongkea Restaurant is a sprawling space that can seat 300 guests. A free buffet breakfast is available that includes plenty of Asian options alongside yogurt, breads, and fruit, but limited Western dishes. The restaurant also serves a la carte lunches and dinners, with a variety of Khmer and international dishes available. Just down the hallway, the Mezzanine Lounge has marble floors, smart dark wood chairs, and whirling ceiling fans, and is a popular spot for beer, cocktails, and coffee and tea. At night, a band plays live music and there are also happy hour specials. Downstairs, Pronto Cafe rounds out the food and beverage options with coffee, tea, cakes, and pastries served throughout the day. The hotel offers a full range of conference and event facilities, including a ballroom and meeting rooms, as well as a private sky lounge for events and a large outdoor stage and several gazebos. There's also a business center, plus an Executive Lounge that overlooks the pool. Wi-Fi is free throughout. The hotel offers free airport pick-ups and a free shuttle into the center of Siem Reap a few times a day, though return trips are not offered. Packages are available that include tours of the Angkor sights and various spa treatments.
