Bottom Line

The 346-room, all-inclusive Grand Prestige Hotel & Spa is an upper-middle-range property set next to a lovely lake that's close to the beach, but numerous complaints from past guests keep it from being a good value. Issues reported include maintenance problems, poor food options, noise from peacocks and birds on-site, and fees for in-room safes and Wi-Fi. However, families come for the kids’ club, multiple waterslides, and plethora of entertainment, plus there are a spa, gym, and sports facilities. Rooms have a generic look, but they come with flat-screen TVs, furnished outdoor spaces, and minibars. It's worth paying more at nearby Nashira Hotel, which has slightly nicer rooms and even more features.

Scene

Lovely grounds and plenty to keep busy, but many issues reported

Grand Prestige Hotel & Spa is a large property with a lakefront location at the back and lots of greenery all around. Trees and vine-covered trellises shade pretty outdoor spaces, while water features and hammocks slung between trees add opportunities for relaxation. Peacocks roam the grounds and often greet guests at the front entrance, but like other birds found here, their noise can be a disturbance. Inside, an eight-story high ceiling and large hanging lamps draped with gauzy fabric that resemble jelly fish give the lobby a feeling of grandeur, though actual furnishings are on the dated and generic side. This is also true for guest rooms and the main buffet restaurant. Those expecting the advertised five-star hotel will be let down by maintenance concerns, a noisy environment, and poor buffet food, though many appreciate the lovely grounds and extensive entertainment facilities. Note that the hotel primarily caters to its Russian and Turkish clientele.

Location

Between Antalya and Anlaya on Turkey’s southern shore, a two-minute walk from the beach

This hotel is on Turkey’s southern coast, between the popular tourist destinations of Antalya and Alanya. The property is on Lake Titreyengol, providing guests direct access to a walking path around the lake and some lovely views. There are a few shops on the street just outside the hotel for sundries, clothes, and beach gear. It is a two-minute walk to a beautiful strip of sand where there are several bars and a restaurant. There’s little else to do nearby, but a six-minute walk to a bus stop offers access to more. It is a 15-minute drive to the nearby town of Side, known for its historic sites, plus there are restaurants and a harbor. The beautiful beaches and historic ruins at Alanya are an hour-drive to the east of the hotel. The larger city of Antalya is a 70-minute drive west, and Antalya Airport is an hour drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Modest decor and worn bathrooms

Standard Rooms have generic, albeit mostly contemporary, brown and white decor with aquamarine accents for a simple look that lacks embellishment. All rooms have busy patterned carpet and some add bright red pops of color. Light-wood furniture includes long, built-in desks and cabinet with minimally stocked minibars and safes (for a fee). Also provided are small flat-screen TVs and closets with full-length mirrors. Furnished balconies are small, and views are either of the lake, grounds, or distant sea. Upgraded units offer separate bedrooms, living rooms with second TVs, and pullout sofas. Bathrooms often show the most wear with issues like dirty grout and stains in the shower/tub combos. Hairdryers and hair straighteners are provided, as are free hotel-branded toiletries.

Features

Fun pools with waterslides, full-service spa, and daily entertainment, but poor food

This huge resort offers a wide range of services and fun activities. The two buffet restaurants serve all-inclusive meals, and a la carte eateries offer Turkish, Italian, Mexican, and seafood specialties. The food gets mixed, and often poor, reviews, though the quality and variety are generally better in the high season. The main pool is large, nestled between two wings of the hotel building and screened from the road by a row of trees. Around the corner, closer to the lake, there’s another pool with waterslides. Both pools include a wading pool for children. On the sandy beach, free loungers are shaded under tents. For more relaxation, a spa has a heated indoor pool -- a nice option for cool weather -- along with a steam room, hammam, and decent fitness room. A variety of massages and beauty treatments are available. The kids’ club has a playground and activities for young children. Sporting facilities include soccer, tennis, and volleyball courts, as well as water sports, walking paths, and archery (some for a fee). Entertainment is provided in the form of music, dancing, and shows. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, but costs extra to access in rooms.
