  • Large apartments with kitchenettes and outdoor views

  • Secluded property that's a short walk to beach

  • Free parking

Cons
  • An abandoned building towers over pool area

  • Property not well maintained and apartments are dirty

  • Not many amenities

Bottom Line

Residence Kartibubbo offers a few different accommodation options, including apartments with sea views that can sleep up to six people. Large cupboards hide basic kitchen facilities including electric burners and a sink. The dated spaces are not very well maintained and are in need of a cleaning. A huge, unfinished seven-story structure towers over the pool area and detracts even more from the overall atmosphere. The prices are in line with the condition of the facilities and could be an affordable option for large families or groups of unfussy travelers on a budget, but there are much better options in Mazara del Vallo.

Scene

Bleak, spartan, and rundown

The property has a bleak, institutional feel. The cold, stark lobby and hallways are decorated with a few bright paintings, but the overall atmosphere is that of the customs area of a small airport. The skeleton of an unfinished building hulks in the background of the pool area, which has a small patch of grass and a smattering of palm trees. The apartments are not much better, though they have views of the sea in the distance.

Location

Close to the beach, with restaurants nearby

The complex is close to the beach with a picturesque lighthouse and next to the much more luxurious Milu Beach Club, with a few restaurants nearby. It’s a 30-minute drive to the center of the town Mazara del Vallo and about 35 minutes to the Selinunte archaeological area.

Rooms

Dated and dirty, with sea views from narrow balconies

The apartments are somewhat spacious, but very dated, with dirty corners and a spartan decor that’s stuck in the 1950s. Overall, the space needs a scrub down. There are basic kitchens with some pots, plates, and utensils. Couches are upholstered in cheap fabric and the beds are covered in thin blankets. The bathrooms, with small stall showers, have corroded fixtures. The narrow balconies have a view of the sea in the distance.

Features

Large outdoor pool and snack bar; near Milu Beach Club and its restaurant

There’s a large on-site freeform outdoor pool and a small snack bar with a tented seating area and foosball table. The property is close to the three-star Milu Beach Club, and there are some places to eat nearby, including Milu’s Blu Restaurant, which has a view of the lighthouse. Parking is free and tourist services are available.
