The Il Cortile Fiorito is an all-apartment hotel in a charming building. Behind an iron gate, potted plants line up on a stone path under a terracotta tunnel. Vines wrap around an iron rail flanking a rustic stone stairway in a narrow courtyard. There’s not much common space, just a small living room area by the front desk with a beige, plush couch and a hallway with large flower vases on the floor and a shabby chic dresser sitting under a curvy mirror. The hotel largely attracts those on extended stays, as most rooms have kitchenettes and some have washer/dryers.

The hotel is on an old, narrow street in the center of Trapani. There are plenty of bars, shops, and restaurants as well as a grocery store nearby. The ocean is less than 100 yards away. The historic town of Erice is less than a 35-minute drive from the hotel, and Zingaro Nature Reserve -- where visitors can hike and snorkel -- is within an hour-and-a-half drive.

Bathrooms have stand-up showers, and all rooms have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The overall look is basic, but clean. Views of the surrounding buildings are not particularly attractive.
