Il Cortile Fiorito is a quaint value hotel made up of seven clean, colorful apartments in the center of Trapani, less than 100 yards from the ocean. A good fit for guests who want to do their own cooking, some of the rooms have kitchenettes equipped with ovens and refrigerators, and there is a grocery store within walking distance. For those staying in rooms without kitchens, several restaurants are nearby including the popular Calvino 1946 Pizzeria. The similarly priced Casa Vacanze Fardella Centrale doesn’t have the rustic appeal, but offers more modern rooms. Rooms at Il Cortile are up-to-date with flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi (for a fee) but decor is a bit bland.
Scene
All-apartment hotel with potted plants and stone walkways
The Il Cortile Fiorito is an all-apartment hotel in a charming building. Behind an iron gate, potted plants line up on a stone path under a terracotta tunnel. Vines wrap around an iron rail flanking a rustic stone stairway in a narrow courtyard. There’s not much common space, just a small living room area by the front desk with a beige, plush couch and a hallway with large flower vases on the floor and a shabby chic dresser sitting under a curvy mirror. The hotel largely attracts those on extended stays, as most rooms have kitchenettes and some have washer/dryers.
Location
In the center of Trapani, not far from the sea
The hotel is on an old, narrow street in the center of Trapani. There are plenty of bars, shops, and restaurants as well as a grocery store nearby. The ocean is less than 100 yards away. The historic town of Erice is less than a 35-minute drive from the hotel, and Zingaro Nature Reserve -- where visitors can hike and snorkel -- is within an hour-and-a-half drive.
Rooms
Colorful rooms, some with kitchenettes and washer/dryers
Flower-named rooms like “Iris” and “Tulipano” are colorfully decorated with floral paintings and bright curtains. Modern furniture like sleek nightstands and streamlined TV stands mix with classic patterned tile floors to create an eclectic (and somewhat bizarre) look. Some rooms feel like a true apartment with kitchenettes and dining tables. These rooms also have refrigerators, stoves, and washing machines. One room has glossy, red cupboards. Bathrooms have stand-up showers, and all rooms have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The overall look is basic, but clean. Views of the surrounding buildings are not particularly attractive.
Features
Helpful staff and bike rentals
Guests rave about the pleasant staff at Il Cortile Fiorito who have helped with everything from making salon appointments to securing rental cars. The hotel has bike rentals available for a fee. There is street parking available a few blocks away from the hotel. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but it does provide guests with a voucher for a croissant and coffee at a nearby cafe.
