The 19-room Hotel Palladio is converted from a late 19th-century residence and maintains a great deal of its traditional charm without sacrificing comfort. With antique furniture, custom local art and decoration, and bright tiling and wall colors, the property is fun and inviting -- even if rooms leave something to be desired in decor and have tiny tube TVs. Some rooms can be a little compact -- particularly in the bathrooms -- but upgrading to a Superior unit gets you significantly more space. The hotel's terrace restaurant is beloved (though the meals can be meat-heavy), combining Sicilian fare and gorgeous sea views.

A charming hotel with a homey feel (but rooms are bland)
Hotel Palladio is quaint. The blue, ivy-covered facade gives guests a homey feel from the start. Along the long curving wall of the entrance is a mural of musicians welcoming visitors into the lobby. While common spaces are rather dark, the multicolored tile floor and artwork on the walls liven things up. Much of the artwork, ironwork, and furniture has been made by local Sicilian artists, including paintings by the hotel owner's mother. While there's not a lot of seating space in the lobby, the Palladio has installed a small library with cushioned yellow reading chairs and a computer station.
The indoor restaurant/lounge space maintains the festiveness of the other common areas, with yellow and blue chairs and tiled coffee tables. The terrace is blue-themed and basically unadorned, but guests take little notice -- the sea view is more than enough.

Right off the beach and near the town center
The Palladio is near the historic town center of Giardini Naxos, across the street from a small pebble beach. On one side, the hotel overlooks Via Umberto, one of Naxos' main roads, and on the other, the Bay of Naxos. It’s a short walk to the square and church of Giardini Naxos, and it’s about 15 minutes to the area's archaeological museum. The sandy Lido di Naxos beach is about 15 to 20 minutes south by foot. Outside the hotel, you can get buses to Taormina or the train station for travel to Catania, Messina, and more.

Antique furniture, brightly-painted doors, and beautiful pendant lamps or chandeliers give spaces some character, but overall they're dated with tiny tube TVs. Standard rooms are reasonably sized and come with mini-fridges, tea kettles, and air-conditioning. Bathrooms, and in particular the showers, might be a little cramped in standard rooms, but Superior and Triple bathrooms are roomier.
