Bottom Line

The Hotel Bel 3 is in a remote residential area about 20 minutes away from the Palermo city noise. It has remarkable views from almost every space in the hotel, including the outdoor pool, hot tub, and terrace, but there isn’t much design to speak of. Rooms are generic and somewhat dated, but the bathrooms are much more modern with lovely tile. All rooms have balconies with views, but some balconies are small. There is free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning throughout and the hotel is pet-friendly; only small pets are allowed. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from Piazza Baida, in addition to a downtown/airport shuttle (for a fee).

Hotel Bel 3

Scene

A mid-range hotel lacking design, but with amazing views

The most striking element of the Hotel Bel 3 is the views. From the breakfast room to the lobby to the rooms, there are exceptional views of the mountains, sea, and city. Most of the hotel is a touch dated and lacks a final polish. The plain decor includes tones of whites and browns from the on-site restaurant to the bar area. The lobby has a nice front desk. There is outdoor seating in the breakfast area and a few muted gray couches and chairs sprinkled throughout the common areas. Colored wall cutouts have flowers and different hued sticks, but other than that, there is little art or color. Overall the hotel is basic, but looking out over the landscape offers a peaceful atmosphere.

Location

On the serene Baida Hill, within driving distance of Palermo and Monreale

The Hotel Bel 3 is located up on Baida Hall, away from the noise of the city of Palermo. Aeroporto di Palermo-Boccadifalco is a five-minute drive while the church and convent of Baida are within walking distance. The center of Palermo and Monreale are both about a 20-minute drive from the hotel; a rental car is necessary to get around. There is public transportation available near the hotel, but the trip to Palermo takes over an hour.

Rooms

All rooms have balconies with mountain, sea, or city views -- but design is tired

Balconies with extraordinary views are the highlight of the rooms, but other than that, they lack design. Red or pink bedspreads, little artwork, and blonde wood make the entire space feel tired. Each room has a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, and a stocked minibar, but bathrooms only have a tub or shower. There is nice blue and white tile throughout the bathroom in each, as well as a bidet, hair dryer, and Bagnodoccia amenities. Bathrooms are much more modern and bright than the rooms.

Features

Phenomenal views from the pool, hot tub, and terrace; free shuttle and Wi-Fi

The Hotel Bel 3 has a beautiful pool, adults-only hot tub, and an outdoor terrace with gorgeous panoramic views. Although each is small, the uninterrupted scene of mountains, sea, and city is stunning. The on-site restaurant (The Caprices Cristian) and bar serve pizza and traditional Italian dishes, but receive mixed reviews. Free breakfast is offered as well, but it also receives mixed reviews. There is a free shuttle to Piazza Baida, but the downtown/airport shuttle costs a fee. In a large room with lots of different equipment is the fitness center and there is free indoor parking, which can be crowded. Additionally, there is room service and free Wi-Fi.
