The 370-room Laguna Vista Beach Resort provides a fully equipped luxury vacation on Nabq Bay’s shores, with plenty of activities and dining options for couples and families seeking a fun-filled beach vacation. Scene

Tropical beachfront Egyptian resort with kid-friendly atmosphere

The resort offers a luxury beach vacation for couples and families who are able to overlook some dated decor in exchange for beautiful, palm-shaded grounds and direct beach access. The palatial-looking lobby has high ceilings, second-floor archways, columns, and a stone staircase, with rock-cave touches; there aren’t any elevators. Tiki lamps light the grounds' grassy-roofed gazebos, palms, and ponds. It’s a short walk to the beach, with canopy beds, wood lounge chairs, and black-fabric and thatched umbrellas; the water is shallow. There’s also a beachside pool lined with white cushions, complete with towel stand and outdoor showers to up the comfort level. The property's three lagoon pools -- with waterfalls, a kiddy pool, a swim-up bar, and water slides -- are bordered by faux sandy shores, and sand-colored stone decks lined with canopy beds, lounge chairs, and tiki umbrellas. One pool doesn’t allow kids, appealing to couples.

Location

On the shores of Nabq Bay, within a half-hour of attractions

The Laguna Vista Beach Resort rests on the sands of Nabq Bay, in the south Sinai peninsula. The La Strada Mall is a three-minute drive from the resort. There are plenty of spots to grab a quick bite within a couple minutes' walk, including Hard Rock Cafe and McDonald’s. Guests can drive about a half-hour to go snorkeling at Naama Bay, or explore the Aqua Blue Water Park. The airport is just under 20 minutes' drive.

Rooms

Large rooms with balconies; some with private pools

Guests can stay in Chalets or Suites, Superior rooms with private pool access, or Standard or Superior rooms. All are casually stylish, and decorated with natural fabrics and light colors, including rattan furnishings and cream-colored rugs. Standard rooms are air-conditioned and have TVs (some tube-style), mini-fridges, safes, and balconies; some decor is slightly worn. Bathrooms have clay-colored tile floors, and are equipped with bidets and shower/tub combos. Suites and Chalets offer living rooms, while Presidential Suites have private pools and four bedrooms each.

Features

International dining, beachside cocktails, and kids' entertainment

There are two buffet restaurants, including Kahramana Main Restaurant (serving three meals), and open-air Which Way Restaurant (serving lunch and dinner). The a la carte restaurants include Dua Dua, serving Italian cuisine with beach views, and Pataya Seafood Restaurant on the beach. There are also a lobby bar, swim-up pool bar, cave bar, and beach bar near a seaside pool. On the sand is a Bedouin tent where guests can lounge on throw pillows, smoke from hookahs, and watch the flat-screen TV. Other on-site features include a medical clinic, shops, a meeting room for up to 350 people, and a business corner with three PCs. A full-service spa and hair/nail salon are on-site, and the gym is equipped with cardio machines and weights. For families, there are a kids' clubhouse and playgrounds, an amphitheater with entertainment, and sports galore -- from soccer to tennis to ping-pong.
