Bottom Line
Villas de Jardin is an upscale family-friendly complex of seven one- and two-bedroom self-catering villas, located on a steep hillside above the Indian Ocean. The clean, spacious units are a great spot for families and extended-stay visitors, and all have large decks with great views, romantic outdoor showers, well-stocked kitchens, and chic modern bathrooms. There's no restaurant or bar on-site, but there is an outdoor infinity pool with a deck where guests can relax and socialize, and the hotel is near a grocery store and restaurants. Travelers that prefer a beachfront location in Seychelles could try the four-pearl Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie.

Scene
A quiet enclave surrounded by tropical gardens, overlooking the Indian Ocean
The Villas de Jardin are located high up on a steep hillside overlooking the coast. The vibe is simple, modern, and luxurious, with beautiful gardens and stunning sea views visible from every spot on the property. Guests are on their own once they check in at the owner’s home. There's little to do on the premises beyond relaxing in the peace and quiet, although with a rental car, the villas are a convenient base for exploring the island beaches and sights. The grounds are dotted with ripe fruit trees, and guests are permitted to pick and eat the spoils. This property is best suited to families, friends, and couples looking for peace, quiet, and a good value.
Location
On a steep hill above the Indian Ocean, within walking distance of local shops and restaurants
The Villas de Jardin are located on the northwest coast of Mahe, near the village of Port Glaud. The villas sit next to the main road, with a grocery store, shops, and several small local restaurants within a few minutes’ walk. The beach is a five-minute walk downhill, although swimmers will want to head to one of the larger beaches, such as Grande Anse, a 10-minute drive away. The Seychelles Golf Club is just over a 20-minute drive away. There is a bus stop just outside the gates, where guests can hop a bus to Victoria; the scenic route can take as long as an hour and 45 minutes, but the shorter, more direct route takes 45 minutes.
Rooms
Self-catering one- and two-bedroom villas, with outdoor showers, modern kitchens, and decks
The Villas de Jardin consists of five one-bedroom and two two-bedroom villas. Each has a large, furnished private terrace with an ocean view; other amenities include smallish flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and safes. Only the bedrooms have air-conditioning. All villas come with small modern kitchens complete with two-burner cooktops, mini-fridges, microwaves, and ample cookware, cutlery, and glasses, although they lack dishwashers. Villa decor is simple and modern, with lots of space, white walls, tile floors, and dark-wood furniture and trim in characteristic Seychellois style. Although the villas are self-catering, housekeeping comes by each day. Bathrooms are large and chic, with stone sinks and enormous glass walk-in showers. Each bathroom has a large picture window and a sheltered back terrace with a romantic outdoor shower. There are no bathtubs.

There are also a few resident tortoises that add to the character of the resort.
