Petit Palace Canalejas Sevilla

Petit Palace Canalejas Hotel is housed in an impressive 20th-century building, standing alone on the corner of a quiet junction. Like its name suggests, it resembles a small opulent palace from the outside, with ornate carvings and columns crowning the entrance. On the inside, some original features have been retained -- like the central patio -- but decor is fresh and modern overall. The lobby is small, and really just a place to check-in and move on. Instead, the communal living room acts as an alternative social space. It has a cozy feel, with modern white sofas and potted plants, plus a library and computer station. The restaurant offers modern, casual dining with indoor/outdoor seating, and the bar has a lively atmosphere at night. Guests are mostly tourists, with couples, families, and solo travelers coming from all over the world.

The hotel is located on Calle Canalejas, right on the corner of a quiet junction in the historic Santa Cruz neighborhood. It's a prime spot for tourists, as the hotel is within walking distance of numerous monuments and attractions. Seville's cathedral and the Alcazar are around a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and the Museum of Fine Art is a three-minute walk. For shopping, Calle Sierpes and Calle Tetuan are five minutes away on foot, while Plaza de Espana and Jardines de Murillo are around a 25-minute walk from the hotel (or 10 to 15 minutes by taxi). There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the immediate area, including a popular free flamenco show at one of the local bars. Santa Justa Train Station and Seville Airport are around a 20-minute drive from the hotel. 

All 52 guest rooms are identically decorated with white walls, hardwood floors, orange and white color schemes, and simple white furniture like work desks and closets. Beds are dressed in crisp white linens, with soft backlit headboards and bright orange throw pillows. Standard Rooms are tiny and feel a bit cramped, so guests might upgrade to a bigger room, especially for longer stays. Larger Family Rooms are available, adding metal bunkbeds for kids and extra living space. All rooms come with modern amenities, including flat-screen TVs, minibars, phones, safes, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms add front-facing balconies, offering lovely views of the streets below. White tiled bathrooms are small (some are tiny), with powerful hydro-massage showers, hairdryers, and free toiletries. Frosted glass doors are a modern touch, but lack privacy. 

For a budget hotel, Petit Palace Canalejas has some great facilities. The Spanish restaurant and bar, Ignacio Vidal, serves tapas and wine in a modern, relaxed setting. A breakfast buffet is provided here for a fee, with hot and cold options like eggs, pastries, cereals, tea, and coffee. The hotel has a living room, with a TV, library, computer station, and iPads on request. Guests can rent bikes for free, which is a great perk, especially for those without vehicles. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, concierge, laundry, dry cleaning, car rentals, free newspapers, and free Wi-Fi. Room service is available, but hours are limited. There's no on-site parking. Small pets can stay at no extra cost.
