Rooms facing inner courtyard can be dark and lack privacy
This small hotel, which opened in 2011, is set in a traditional Seville-style palace and has a perfect location in the city’s historic center. Along with the charming atmosphere, including a light-filled, enclosed central courtyard, there’s a small rooftop pool and sun deck with views of the city. The contemporary room decor is a bit generic and doesn't incorporate many historical influences, but some rooms have shuttered windows facing the courtyard.
Scene
Traditional architecture with modern rooftop pool
The stately building has the look of a typical Seville house and matches the city’s architecture, with yellows, browns, and colorful Spanish tile. The inner courtyard floods with light from the glass ceiling. The rooftop pool, surrounded by a wooden deck and fake grass, is a more modern space. While the hotel is not luxurious, the antique touches give it a special feel.
Location
In the historic center, very close to attractions
The Itaca is on a narrow street in an older area of town filled with bars, restaurants, and shops. It can be a little difficult to locate, but is still in a prime location, around the corner from the Plaza de la Encarnación and Espacio Metropol Parasol. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to other major sights, including the Seville Cathedral to the south. The airport is about 15 minutes northeast by car.
Rooms
Rooms with contemporary decor and a few traditional Spanish influences
There are 23 air-conditioned rooms decorated in a contemporary way, with yellow walls, lots of dark wood, and red throw pillows. There are a few historical influences, such as the marble tile floors and carving on the interior doors. Bathrooms have mirrors framed in colorful tile and shower/tub combos, some with jets. Rooms facing the street have balconies, while those that sit on the courtyard have windows that face the indoor space. (Guests who want to open the shuttered window will have to sacrifice privacy.) All rooms include small flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and hairdryers.
Features
Rooftop pool and buffet breakfast
One of the property’s main amenities is a small rooftop pool surrounded by a deck area. The Itaca also provides a small buffet breakfast with meats, cheeses, cereals, and fruit. Staff can help book tours. Pets are accepted with a small fee and laundry and dry cleaning services are available as well.
