The two-and-a-half-pearl Hotel Murillo is centrally located within a short walking distance of the city’s main attractions in Seville. The 64 contemporary rooms were updated in 2014 to include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and marble bathrooms. Some have free minibars, though all lack coffee- and tea-making facilities. There’s no restaurant or gym here, but the hotel does have a seasonal rooftop bar and a hot and cold breakfast buffet that's served until late (for a fee). Wi-Fi isn’t always reliable and the hotel can get noisy at night, according to some guests. Hotel Zenit Sevilla is a good alternative with a restaurant, bar, and gym in the trendy Triana neighborhood.
Scene
Stylish hotel with a contemporary style, lovely rooftop terrace, and a clientele of couples and friends
Hotel Murillo is an attractive rose pink hotel that was renovated in 2014. The interior is elegant and charming. The lobby has glossy white floors, a beautiful wooden ceiling, a diverse selection of contemporary and antique seating, potted plants, and upscale pieces like gold framed mirrors and classic paintings. The breakfast room is a bit simple with wooden tables and yellow floors. However, the rooftop terrace bar is trendy with white stucco walls, white tables, woven chairs, and cheerful potted plants. The space provides lovely rooftop views. The hotel is situated in the popular historic city center, next to the city’s main attractions, so it draws mostly couples and friends on vacation. However, with the central location it can be somewhat noisy in the evenings and early mornings; earplugs might be a good addition to your suitcase.
Location
Surrounded by restaurants and shops, between Seville Cathedral and the Royal Alcazar
Hotel Murillo sits smack in the heart of Seville. It’s located a five-minute walk between Seville Cathedral and the Royal Alcazar. The beautiful Plaza de Espana takes eight minutes to reach on foot. The location makes it easy to reach most of city’s main attractions within a 15-minute walk or so. The hotel is surrounded by bars, restaurants, and shops. The closest metro, bus, and cable car stop is a 13-minute walk away. It’s a 16-minute drive to Seville Airport.
Rooms
Contemporary rooms with flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning; some rooms offer free minibars
The rooms at Hotel Murillo are contemporary with a charming style that includes wood floors, iron beds, rose pink accents, and a few pieces of floral art. All rooms feature flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, desks, and air-conditioning. None of the rooms have coffee- and tea-making facilities. Many rooms have minibars, and Suites and Superior Rooms offer free minibar items to guests. The rooms lack safes, though guests can take advantage of free safety deposit boxes at the front desk. Some rooms have terraces. Bathrooms are composed of beautiful white marble walls and sinks and single stripes of rose pink. They include bidets, toiletries, and small showers. Due to the location, some rooms are subject to exterior noise from nearby bars. Past guests note that thin walls make it easy to hear noise from other hotel guests, too.
Features
Rooftop terrace, bar, small library, laundry room, vending machines, breakfast buffet, and free Wi-Fi
Even though it’s a simple hotel, there are some wonderful features here, like a rooftop terrace that’s open in the spring and summer and has a darling bar that serves beer and wine. There are tables, chairs, and umbrellas where guests can gather to lounge with a drink. There’s not much inside the hotel beyond a small library with books for guests to use in a small lounge area, a laundry room, and a few snack and drink vending machines. A breakfast buffet with mostly cold items (and some hot items like bacon and eggs) is served into the late morning hours. It’s not always included in the room rates. Wi-Fi is free, though not always reliable. A public computer is available too. Parking must be reserved in advance.
