Bottom Line

The two-pearl Hotel Goya is a budget-friendly hotel that caters to tourists visiting Seville. (Usually) low rates and a convenient location within walking distance to most of the area's major sites are the reasons that travelers ignore the lack of amenities for a stay here. Apart from free Wi-Fi and a pet-friendly policy, the hotel lacks the basics of breakfast, parking, or public spaces beyond the Spanish-style lobby. The 19 rooms are clean and include flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning. Hotel Abanico Sevilla is a good alternative and offers breakfast, an on-site cafe, and charming rooms.

Scene

Simple budget hotel with Spanish flair in the lobby

Inside a pleasant, tall white and yellow building, Hotel Goya offers little in the way of public spaces. From the lobby alone, there’s a distinct Spanish vibe thanks to lovely tiling and paintings of flamenco dancers. Wrought iron gates look elegant over windows and the doorway leading to the elevator bank. Surprisingly enough, this small budget hotel does offer an elevator. It's too bad that vibe doesn’t quite make it to the tired and blasé rooms. Guests here are mostly tourists -- couples, families, and friends -- who choose a stay in the center of historic Seville over amenities. Despite, the lack of attention to details in the room decor, it’s a clean place, and has an intimate vibe that will make for a pleasant stay. Be aware that the prices can get a little pricey for what's offered, especially during peak season.

Location

Perfect location for sightseeing in Seville's historic district

It’s easy to get around anywhere on foot in Seville, especially from this property. Hotel Goya is ideally located for Seville sightseeing, nestled on a small cobblestone street in the city center, just a three-minute walk from Cathedral Seville. The Real Alcazar is five minutes away, while Plaza de Espana is 17 minutes away on foot. It’s an 11-minute walk to Place de la Encarnacion. The city center is filled with tapas restaurants and small bakeries to grab a bite for breakfast or a meal later in the day, as the hotel doesn’t offer any dining options on-site. Shopping can be found in small souvenir shops on surrounding streets. Seville Airport is a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms

Simple rooms with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi

Rooms here are all private with en-suite bathrooms. The decor is tired: there’s tiled flooring, gray or tan bedding, and blond wooden furniture. Floral artwork or striped red chairs add a bit of color to the spaces. Some rooms are more spacious than others. Not all rooms are equipped with windows, which can feel claustrophobic. Of the rooms that have windows, the views pleasantly face attractive historic buildings across the street. A few rooms have a very small balcony. All rooms feature free (spotty) Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and flat-screen TVs. Past guests have noted issues with the air-conditioning. Street traffic can be bothersome in street-facing rooms, so it might be best to pack earplugs or ask for a room in the back of the hotel. Clean bathrooms are done in a darling blue-and-white tile and feature a mix of showers and shower/tub combos. Bidets, hairdryers, and toiletries are provided.

Features

Free Wi-Fi throughout and pet-friendly policies

Features at Hotel Goya are slim to non-existent. There’s no breakfast, no parking, no restaurant, no gym, no meeting rooms -- nothing to entice travelers to relax or work. What it does offer is free Wi-Fi throughout and a pet acceptance policy. Parking can be found on the street or in nearby garages.
