Bottom Line

Travelers looking for a clean, reasonably priced hotel that’s within walking distance of famed attractions in Seville could certainly do worse than the Hotel America, though true to its name, the nondescript property doesn’t have a lot of Spanish charm. Along with basic guest rooms, the venue offers little beyond a buffet restaurant and some meeting spaces. The location, near the main shopping streets of the city center and attractions, can’t be beat for the price, which is generally lower than other hotels in the same category.

Scene

Dated and a little too flashy, with few common areas

The Hotel America has the look of a chain hotel stuck in the 1980s, with lots of marble, mirrors, and brass. Aside from a couple of couches in the lobby and tiny bar, there are no other common areas. The buffet restaurant is painted in a cheerful yellow, but otherwise the feeling is a bit sterile.

Location

Near shopping and restaurants; walkable to most attractions

The property has an excellent location in Victoria Square, just across from the large El Corte Inglés shopping center in a busy area surrounded by shops, bars, and restaurants. It’s an easy walk to the main sights of the city, including the Seville Cathedral, which is about 10 to 15 minutes south. It’s a 20-minute drive to the airport and about an hour via public transport.

Rooms

Clean and basic with bland decor

The venue’s 100 air-conditioned guest rooms are clean and basic, with slightly more personality than the average chain hotel. The spaces have laminate floors and forest green wood furniture. The bathrooms are a tight fit and come with narrow, curtained tub/shower combos. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and hairdryers.

Features

Lobby bar, buffet breakfast, and meeting rooms along with free Wi-Fi

Along with a buffet restaurant that serves a fairly well-stocked breakfast and a small lobby bar, the hotel offers several basic meeting rooms. Parking in the city center is available for an extra fee. Free Wi-Fi and newspapers are also offered.
