Bottom Line
This 269-room Sheraton is an upscale hotel in South Seoul -- it's a solid pick for business guests, though tourists will need to use the attached metro station to get anywhere of interest. Rooms are modern and include large TVs and high-end espresso machines. They also have amazing city views, especially on upper floors. While the hotel has a gorgeous lap pool, spa and a virtual indoor golf center, the restaurants and amenities don’t compare to luxury hotels such as the Park Hyatt in Gangnam. Still, the Sheraton is considerably more affordable for families and business travelers who don’t mind being further from the action.

Modern, tasteful hotel with excellent views from upper levels
This tall hotel is the picture many guests have of an Asian metropolis -- it's a gleaming, glass-and-steel structure that includes a mall, and towers over the neighboring buildings, roads, and highways. The entry and interiors match the hotel's scale, with high ceilings and plenty of contemporary flair throughout. Elevators whisk guests up and down the building, but some guests have noted they aren't the most convenient to navigate. The reception desk is backed by a stylish wood panel with cut out lights, and bauble light fixtures dangle and twinkle from the ceiling. The lobby's all-glass walls are lined with comfortable lounge chairs and tables, and of course offer excellent views of Seoul's glittering skyline. The hotel attracts a mix of touring families and business guests; the latter typically spend a lot of time in the Club Lounge, which hosts a daily happy hour and is equipped with rectangular dining tables and a bar area. It's a great place for SPG members and Club Room guests to relax in an exclusive setting, all with fantastic views of the city.
Location
Direct metro access in southwest Seoul, far from tourist sights
Surrounded by office buildings, businesses, banks, and malls, the Sheraton sits in southwestern Seoul, directly on top of Shindorim Station Metro Line 2 which offers access to the rest of the city -- there isn't much of interest within walking distance. The hotel is attached to a large shopping mall -- Sindorim TechnoMart -- where there are plenty of local eateries. It's a five-minute drive to Times Square, South Korea's largest shopping mall. It takes at least half an hour on the metro to reach most of Seoul’s major areas, including Gangnam, the Myeongdong shopping district, and Itaewon International Market. Insadong, one of the city's iconic neighborhoods, is a 15-minute taxi ride, or 30-minute metro trip from the hotel. Seoul's major palaces, Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, take 45 minutes to reach by metro. Gimpo International Airport is about 15 minutes away by car or public transportation and Incheon International Airport is a 30-minute drive depending on traffic.
Rooms
Comfortable, modern rooms with tremendous views
The Sheraton has a total of 269 spacious rooms, including 12 Suites. Nearly all of them offer tremendous views of the city. While rooms are modern and attractive, like all Sheratons, they have a somewhat austere executive look, with wood-panel accent walls with padded statement headboards, ergonomic desk chairs, metal desk lamps, fancy espresso machines, and electronic controls for the curtains, heating, and air-conditioning. The straight forward white and soft orange color scheme is complemented by tan carpets and light wood veneer furniture; some rooms offer additional seating like circular day beds or chaise lounges set next to the windows. All rooms are equipped with Sheraton's signature pillow-top beds and 42-inch flat-screen TVs with cable channels, but Wi-Fi is only included in some room rates. Suites offer nearly twice the size of Deluxe Rooms -- starting at 72 square meters, or 775 square feet -- and have separate living rooms with sofa beds, plush armchairs, and second TVs. All units feature enormous bathrooms with contemporary raised sinks on spacious vanities, separate walk-in rainfall showers and soaking tubs, plush bathrobes, and slippers.
Features
Great indoor pool, spa, fitness center, and indoor virtual golf center
This modern high-rise hotel offers spectacular city views from most rooms and locations. There's a refreshing indoor pool with a ceiling full of inset pink lights and a wall of windows looking down upon Seoul. The hotel also offers an enormous, club-sized fitness center with numerous digital treadmills and modern weight equipment, as well as a contemporary spa providing massage and beauty treatments. The spa has its own cafe serving fresh salads, smoothies, and health food.
The hotel also has an indoor virtual golf center -- a distinctive perk -- with lessons and coaching available. On the 34th floor, Feast restaurant serves a plentiful buffet breakfast and is open for lunch and dinner, with fresh food stations serving everything from pizza to sushi -- there's even a gelato bar. Tables of all sizes are arranged throughout the restaurant; those near the windows offer superb bird’s-eye views of the city and surrounding landscape. Both Feast and the Lobby Lounge have full bars and comfortable lounge areas. Room service is available 24 hours a day. Meals get generally good reviews, though the restaurants can be hectic. Breakfast is not included with most room rates.
The hotel is equipped with several elegant meeting and boardrooms, all featuring high-end presentation equipment. There is also a Club Lounge for SPG members and Club Room guests that hosts daily happy hours and offers a free breakfast buffet. Wi-Fi access is included in room rates for SPG members and certain booking categories. Self-parking is free for guests while valet parking is available for a hefty extra charge.
