Sedona Cathedral Hideaway Bed and Breakfast

This contemporary adobe home was built in 2006 and has since drawn repeat guests to its two themed rooms and intimate setting with stunning views of Sedona's iconic Cathedral Rock. The couple who own the property are attentive and experienced hosts, and even named their street "Serendipity" in a nod to the guests they've met over the years. Inside, the double-height living room features arched floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the surrounding red rocks scenery. A soft gray rug covers the wood floor and plush dusty-blue couches sit near a modern fireplace framed with stone tiles and topped with a flat-screen TV. A separate space has another TV and shelves filled with books for guests to borrow. Large furnished patios showcase the views, as does the formal dining area off the living room, and the open kitchen with a long center island. Walking trails wind through the property to cozy seating spots surrounded by native plants and trees, and red stones. The owner's photographs hang throughout the house, and she's on hand to give pointers on capturing the surrounding landscape on film. The property offers the feel of a private home, set in a tranquil area with incredible scenery, and tends to draw couples with its undeniable romance. 

The Sedona Cathedral Hideaway sits on a two-acre property in a quiet residential neighborhood with beautiful scenery, including views of the famous red rocks. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the property to Crescent Moon Park, the Red Rock Crossing trailhead, and Oak Creek, which runs through Red Rock State Park. There are a good number of shops and restaurants within a 10-minute drive of the bed-and-breakfast, and central Sedona is a 15-minute drive from the hotel. It will also take 15 minutes to reach Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. Expect a 15- to 20-minute drive to Sedona’s wineries, such as Javelina Leap Vineyard & Winery and Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery. Hiking at Bell Rock Trail is 25 minutes away by car, and Slide Rock State Park is a 30-minute drive. The property is a two-hour drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The two spacious guest suites are themed and romantic, with mosquito-net bed canopies and plush fabrics. The look resembles an upmarket suburban home, with abundant neutral tones and heavy, solid furniture. The Safari Room is decorated with a leopard-print bedspread and pillows, and photos of lions, while the Evergreen Room has forest-green fabrics and garden-inspired decor like a wrought-iron nightstand. Both rooms have three-sided electric fireplaces and couches for cozying up and they are spacious -- starting at 650 square feet (60 square meters). There are 26- or 32-inch flat-screen TVs with Direct TV, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, as well as iPod docks with high-quality speakers. Beautiful views of the red rocks are visible through large picture windows. Coffeemakers and snacks are provided, and there are mini-fridges and microwaves. Bathrooms are swanky, with two-person jetted tubs and walk-in showers, double sinks, separate water closets, and Superior Skin Secrets and Nexus products. Robes and slippers as well as safes are provided. Children are allowed when guests reserve both suites.

While most bed-and-breakfasts don't offer much in the way of features, this property goes a step beyond. The rates do -- of course -- include a breakfast that’s cooked to order and served outside in warmer weather. Guests can chose from a menu of more than two dozen dishes that may include fresh eggs from the owners’ chickens and vegetables from their organic garden. The property features a walking labyrinth and two patios, including one with a large chess board. There's also a small bookcase and DVD library. Spa services, including facials, waxing, and anti-aging treatments can be performed by the owner, and massages can also be scheduled. Treatments are available outdoors as well. The owners can provide information on the area's hiking and biking trails. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the property, including on the outside decks.
