Bottom Line

The lower-middle-range Hampton Inn Sedona is situated on Sedona’s main road, making it a convenient base from which to explore the surrounding red-rock scenery. Several restaurants are within walking distance, or within a short drive. Its 55 rooms include microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Though they're a bit dated, rooms are slated for renovation. Hampton Inn Sedona

Scene

Low-key hotel in a spectacular Southwestern setting

One of the smaller hotels in the Hampton chain, the Hampton Inn Sedona is relaxed and quiet most of the time. All types of travelers flock to Sedona to take in the spectacular red-rock scenery, and the hotel's style reflects the area's natural wonders. The adobe-style exterior leads to a lobby with a rustic ambience that includes a fireplace framed by red rocks. Tan wallpaper with wavy patterns reflects the rock formations that surround the hotel. Wood laminate floors yield to colorful blue-and-beige carpeting in the adjacent, two-story breakfast area. The wood furniture in a sitting area in front of the fireplace resembles tigerwood. Distinctive, square chandeliers hang above a long table topped by black marble in the center of the room, and framed photos of Sedona landmarks decorate the walls.

Rooms

Dated rooms with microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi

The Hampton Inn Sedona's 55 rooms are scheduled for renovation in the second half of 2016 -- their green- and tan-patterned carpet shows signs of wear, as noted by several past guests. Bright white duvets cover the beds, which have green bed skirts. Drapes are green, and upholstered chairs and sofa beds (in select rooms) are blue. The matching dark-wood furniture includes headboards, dressers, nightstands, desks, and tables. The only Southwestern accents are the framed photographs of Sedona scenery on the white painted walls. Some rooms, such as the Double Queens, have small dining tables with two upholstered chairs instead of desks with leather office chairs. Rooms come in Double Queen, King, and King Study categories. Bathrooms have roomy wood vanities topped by tan granite, beige-tile floors, and acrylic shower/tub combos. Standard amenities include microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, laptop desks, Neutrogena toiletries, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have views of the pool area and the surrounding red-rock scenery, while others have limited or no views. Rooms are generally quiet, but ambient noise travels between them.
