Extended Stay America - Secaucus - Meadowlands
1 Meadowlands Pkwy

Of the smattering of budget and mid-range chain hotels that make up the Secaucus lodging market, Extended Stay America is one of the nicest, thanks to 2012 renovations that brought in fresh, contemporary decor. The brand's hallmarks include free Wi-Fi, free grab-and-go breakfast, and an on-site laundry center, as well as full-service kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and filtered Culligan water in the rooms. But guests should remember that this isn't a full-service hotel -- housekeeping comes only once every seven days during a stay, and the only toiletries provided are shampoo and bar soap; there may even be some minor cleanliness issues upon check-in (hair on the toilet lid, water stains on the pots and pans). Still, it's an attractive option for the price, drawing both travelers in town for business and leisure visitors looking to save money by staying outside of Manhattan, which is a half-hour bus ride away.

Hyatt Place Secaucus/Meadowlands
575 Park Plaza Dr

The Hyatt Place Secaucus/Meadowlands is a mid-range business hotel located near the New Jersey Turnpike, equidistant from Midtown Manhattan and Newark Airport. Rooms are basic but comfortable, with separate living areas that make them feel spacious. There's also a snack counter, a modern gym, and free parking, but guests wanting to use the hotel as a base to explore New York City might be better off taking the bus, which stops right by the hotel.

Hilton Garden Inn Secaucus / Meadowlands
875 Route 3 East Service Road

In the midst of the New Jersey Meadowlands, Hilton Garden Inn Secaucus/Meadowlands is close to both New York City and the Meadowlands Sports Complex. The 124-room mid-range hotel sees a wide array of guests, including business travelers and families. Though rooms are not as stylish as the gorgeous lobby and breakfast bar, they are meticulously kept and have all the comforts of home -- flat-screen TVs, Keurigs, microwaves, and mini-fridges. The hotel also has a heated indoor pool and fitness center, though both are quite small. And while parking and Wi-Fi are free, breakfast is not.

Meadowlands River Inn
250 Harmon Meadow Blvd

Located in Secaucus, New Jersey, the budget-friendly, 149-room Meadowlands River Inn offers easy access to New York City. Previously a Hampton Inn hotel, it's serene, quiet, and comfortable (but don't expect frills). The New Jersey Transit bus to Manhattan stops right across the street from the hotel and departs every 15 to 20 minutes. MetLife Stadium, in Rutherford, is close by. Within a five-minute walk of the hotel is a shopping complex with restaurants, cafes, stores, and a movie theater.  The Meadowlands River Inn includes free Wi-Fi, parking, and a daily hot breakfast. There are also a fitness center, laundry room, 24-hour business center, and a social media corner with photo props in the lobby, but decor is dated.
