Scene

Simple, modern, and somewhat artsy value hotel

Although it’s boxy and ugly from the outside, the interior of the Georgetown Inn is welcoming, warm, and modern. Surrounded by a concrete parking lot, the drab three-floor building has covered parking spaces surrounding its small, ground floor lobby. The lobby resembles a sparsely decorated coffee shop, and has framed magazine covers on the walls, stylishly scuffed wooden tables with metal chairs, and a few low-lying black armchairs. As of spring 2015, the hotel is slated to replace some of its furniture, but the lobby’s look was relatively modern to begin with. There is an elevator and interesting local art hangs in the hallways.

Location

In Georgetown, a 15- to 20-minute drive south of downtown Seattle

The immediate area surrounding the hotel has a couple of gas stations along with several small shops (a bank, a coffeeshop, and a marijuana dispensary). Although the hotel is in a primarily residential area and is better suited for guests with their own cars, there are a few things to do within walking distance. The Georgetown Brewery is a couple of blocks away, while "downtown" Georgetown and its many local art studios, bars, and restaurants takes about 10 minutes.

Access to the I-5 freeway is two blocks down the street. Washington Highway 99 is a three-minute drive away. It's an easy 10-minute drive to Safeco Field and Century Link, Pioneer Square, and other Seattle attractions. The drive to Pike Place market takes 15 to 20 minutes, and there's a bus that stops across the street from the hotel which can ferry guests there in about half an hour. The drive to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport takes less than 15 minutes depending on traffic, or about 40 by public transit.

Rooms

Simple but comfortable rooms and suites, some with whirlpool hot tubs

Like the rest of the hotel, rooms at the Georgetown are simple, but have thoughtful decorative touches. Rooms feature a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a large desk and chair, a piece of original local artwork on the wall, and a mini-fridge; rock and plant glass tabletop arrangements are found in some of the guest rooms. Some rooms have private whirlpool hot tubs situated directly next to the beds, and the Suites feature completely separate living rooms with sofa beds, large TVs, and full kitchens, complete with dishwashers and microwaves. Bathrooms vary from room to room; some have spacious showers and separate tubs, while others have walk-in showers or shower/tub combos. All the bathrooms have Pro Terra toiletries, but only some feature yellow rubber duckies.

Features

Free parking, Wi-Fi, and continental breakfast, plus tea and coffee in the lobby all day long

While the Georgetown Inn likes to keep it simple, the hotel does offer a few nice freebies. There's plenty of outdoor and covered parking, and a straightforward continental breakfast is included in room rates. There's free Stumptown Coffee and tea all day in the lobby and free Wi-Fi access throughout the property. The reception desk is open 24 hours.
